BREAKING NEWS: Artist's Rendering Released for Bangkok Thailand Temple

Hello again, everyone! Breaking news was just reported on KSL, which is partially or entirely owned by Bonneville Communications, the media entity that is in turn controlled by the Church. As confirmed by this official press release from Mormon Newsroom, an artist's rendering has been supplied for the Bangkok Thailand Temple.

It would appear that, rather than being a multi-purpose edifice as some members speculated, the temple itself will be a separate and distinct building from a dual office building and chapel that will be on the temple grounds. With this rendering released, and the site essentially confirmed, I feel reasonably certain that a groundbreaking will likely be announced in the near future.

I will be sure to keep my eyes open for news in that regard and will be sure to pass any updates along as I become aware of them. That does it for this post. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated. Thank you for the privilege of your time. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  2. Hey, Chris! Hope you are well. I did some quick checking earlier and learned that several temples in recent years have had artist's renderings released either a few months before or at the same time as their groundbreakings were announced. When we add to that the facts that President Nelson was quoted in the article above and has announced his tour of Africa, Asia and Europe in April, it may be that he will preside at this temple's groundbreaking during that time. I will be watching for that announcement whenever it is officially announced and will be sure to pass it along here. Thanks, Chris!

  3. I am hoping to see work on the Winepeg and Urdsneta temples soon. Those are the current announced temples with the longest wait. Most of the other announced temples are within the last two or three years or within the average wait for a groundbreaking. I anticipate several groundbreakings by the end of the year if the average timeframe holds true.

  4. I appreciate your continued enthusiasm for future temple events, Chris. If what I have heard is correct, then construction efforts may get underway in Winnipeg within the next 1-3 months. It will be particularly interesting to see if and how the plan modifications for that temple might change the original estimated 20-month timeframe for its' construction.

Regarding the Urdaneta Temple, I heard last year that the biggest obstacles to its' progress were having the site identified and obtaining government approval. The first of those two obstacles have been cleared, so once the approvals go through, a subsequent groundbreaking is likely to be set shortly thereafter.

I continue to monitor all temple- related events and will pass them along as I learn of them. Thanks again, Chris.

  5. After some additional research on my part, I thought it would be of interest to those of you reading this additional comment to know that, while the Church could opt to break ground for this temple during the time President Nelson is touring (particularly if that is the last thing he does before concluding that tour), there is an equally likely possibility that the groundbreaking could be delayed until later this year. In the meantime, there are, as I have noted in previous posts, a couple of temples in the regions in which President Nelson will be visiting that could have a groundbreaking during that time, regardless of how soon the groundbreaking for the Bangkok Temple may occur. With that said, I also recognize that in 2016, the Church announced the groundbreaking for the Winnipeg Manitoba Temple a mere 2.5 weeks before it actually occurred. So with all of this in mind, if the Lord has indicated or will indicate to President Nelson that the groundbreaking should occur during his trip, it will be so. Whatever might happen in that regard, you can catch news of it here as it happens. Thanks again to you all.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
