BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: Church Confirms Location, Releases Rendering for Port Moresby Papua New Guinea Temple

Hello again, everyone! Echoing recent trends, late this Monday night (which is mid-day Tuesday in the Pacific), the Church has confirmed preliminary details for yet another announced temple, namely the Port Moresby Papua New Guinea Temple.

The confirmed details for yet another temple originally announced in October of last year includes confirmation of the site location (Muniogo Crescent, Badili, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea), and an exterior rendering (another without the angel Moroni statue).

The temple is anticipated to be a single-story edifice of roughly 9,550 square feet. A meetinghouse currently on-site will be demolished to make way for missionary and patron apartments, a residence for the temple president, and a Church distribution center.

Although a groundbreaking date has not been set, project leaders will begin working with government and community leaders through the approvals process. As I've previously mentioned, the Church appears to be laying the groundwork for temple groundbreakings that will take place at some point within the next year What a wonderful season this has been for so many temple developments. I continue to monitor all such things and will bring word thereof to you ASAP after I learn about them.

That does it for now. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such comments are made in accordance with the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly-added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

    1. I almost neglected to note that the Church News also provided coverage this morning on the announcement made late last night here in Utah (which was the afternoon of August 15 in that part of the Pacific) regarding the site location and exterior rendering being released for the Port Moresby Papua New Guinea Temple:

      https://www.thechurchnews.com/temples/2020-09-15/papua-new-guinea-temple-rendering-location-192698

I should also note that I am working through some additional issues with my laptop, so between that and the thoroughness I want to ensure on the information from my temple documents, I may need slightly more time than I originally hoped for the necessary updates. I hope to have something published here in that regard before the groundbreaking of the Brasilia Brazil Temple takes place on Saturday September 26.

Additionally, just a reminder that the open commenting period remains in effect for my October 2020 General Conference predictions until 10:00 PM MDT on Thursday October 1:

At present, I can't tell if the absence of feedback on those are due to lack of interest, the absence of anything that may need improvement, or any other factors which may be at play.

So if any of you do have any input to offer on those, I'd appreciate hearing from you. I have a few other projects in mind before General Conference, but if I'm overlooking or failing to consider anything related to those predictions, I hope any of you will feel free to weigh in on them. In the meantime, I again thank you all for your continued interest and ongoing support.

  2. Hello again, everyone! I have several Church news updates and a couple of temple developments to pass along this afternoon. First, because this year marks the bicentennial of important events related to the restoration, although most other projects in the Book of Mormon video series are being deferred in production and release until 2021 or 2022, in honor of other foundational milestones of the early years of the Restoration, the Church has filmed and authorized the release of a video depicting Moroni finishing and burying the plates in or around 421 AD and his subsequent appearances and instructions provided to the prophet Joseph Smith, beginning in 1823 and continuing through 1827, when the plates were officially given to Joseph so he could translate the Book of Mormon. The Newsroom and Church News both covered that development:

More Church news and temple updates will follow.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
