BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: Location and Initial Details Confirmed for the Montpelier Idaho Temple

Hello again, everyone! This morning, the First Presidency announced the initial details for the Montpelier Idaho Temple, which was announced in General Conference less than 7 weeks ago. The temple will be built on the corner where Sixth North and Washington intersect. The site upon which the Church will build the 27,000 square-foot temple is 2.6 acres.

Although no exterior rendering or groundbreaking date has been released yet, we do know, per a report from the Church Temples site, that the final residence was removed from the temple site late last month. In view of that, I anticipate that approvals are going to be fairly swift. I tried to ascertain if the Montpelier temple was going to be comparable in size to any current temple under construction, but was unsuccessful

I look forward to seeing how swiftly things happen with this temple. I also continue to monitor all Church News, Newsroom, and temple construction updates and will bring you all word thereof as I become aware of those. In the meantime, that does it for now. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such feedback offered is consistent with the established guidelines.

I hope any of you who would like to share anything will take your opportunity to “sound off” in the comments below. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  1. Hello again, everyone! A new report from the Newsroom indicates that Elder Ronald A. Rasband became the first Church representative to meet with the president of Mozambique, whose government has placed religious freedom as a high priority:

    https://news-africa.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/elder-ronald-a-rasband-meets-with-mozambique-president-filipe-nyusi

That report gives me hope that the government may be willing to speed up approvals for the Beira Mozambique Temple. The Church News shared another report related to Mozambique that did not appear to be related to the report on Elder Rasband’s visit:

    https://www.thechurchnews.com/global/2022-05-20/classrooms-church-humanitarian-education-in-mozambique-254850

And the Church News has shared a biography for the new leaders of the Singapore Mission:

    https://www.thechurchnews.com/callings/2022-05-20/new-mission-president-companion-singapore-tolman-calling-first-presidency-2022-254643

I had mentioned in the past that, with the Cambodia Phnom Penh Mission President presiding at the groundbreaking for the Cambodia Temple, and with my "Uncle" David and “Aunt” Stacie Sturt assigned to oversee the Nairobi Kenya Temple construction while serving as president of the Kenya Nairobi Mission, temple construction oversight may be part of a mission president's assignment.

So with the new mission leaders being called for the Singapore Mission, I'm hopeful that might help hasten the approval for the Singapore Temple. Here is another update from the Church News:

And apparently, in advance of the youth devotional and dedication of the Yigo Guam Temple which will occur this weekend, local Church members, with the approval of local congregational leaders, presented a cultural program celebrating the upcoming dedication:

Finally, the Church News has also shared the latest edition of “This Week on Social”:

    https://www.thechurchnews.com/living-faith/2022-05-20/this-week-on-social-president-nelsons-invitation-young-adult-devotional-ballard-oaks-255027

The following apostles were featured: Church President Russell M. Nelson (from whom two posts about the Worldwide Devotional for Young Adults were shared), his First Counselor, President Dallin H. Oaks; Acting President M. Russell Ballard and Elders Jeffrey R. Holland, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Ronald A. Rasband and Ulisses Soares, all of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Additionally, this installment featured content from the following General Officers of the Church: outgoing Relief Society General President Sister Jean B. Bingham; outgoing Primary General President and incoming Relief Society General President Sister Camille N. Johnson, and her outgoing First Counselor (who will succeed her on August 1) Sister Susan B. Porter; Young Women General President Sister Bonnie H. Cordon and her Second Counselor, Sister Rebecca L. (Becky) Craven; and Brother Ahmad S. Corbitt, First Counselor in the Young Men General Presidency.

If there are any new updates on temple construction, I will share that later tonight. In the meantime, my thanks once again to you all.

    2. Hello again, everyone! On this Saturday, the Church News has shared the biographical introduction to Elder Jonathan S. Schmitt, the fifth of the 6 new General Authority Seventies called to serve during the April 2022 General Conference:

That article shares links to several other previously-published articles from the Church News which you can peruse at your own leisure if you’d like to do so. The Church News also provided coverage on donations in the Philippines which will assist Filipino children in getting their necessary immunizations:

That article links to two Newsroom reports, which I will share here:

It is wonderful to see how the Church has stepped in to assist healthcare providers in the Philippines to get necessary supplies throughout this year. The final Church News report (for now) highlights a youth family history project involving those in Texas and here in Utah in honor of 2 missionaries of the Church who were killed one year ago:

If there are any new temple updates, I will provide those later today. For now, my thanks once again to you all.

    3. Also, since it is currently just past 4:00 AM Sunday in Yigo Guam, the youth devotional was likely already held, but coverage on that is pending. With a rough guesstimate that each of the 3 dedicatory sessions may be around 2 hours apiece, the dedication of the Yigo Guam Temple should conclude by 5:00 PM local time, which is 1:00 AM Sunday here in Utah. So there will likely be reports on the youth devotional later today, and on the dedicatory sessions sometime tomorrow.

And with today being Saturday evening (5:00 PM) in Praia Cape Verde, the first full day of public open house tours for the temple in that area either have wrapped up or will wrap up in the next few hours or so. That open house will go through June 11, excluding the relevant Sundays. If there are other temple construction updates, I will pass those along shortly. For now, my thanks once again to you all.

    4. Here is the message that will be shared during tomorrow's broadcast of "Music & the Spoken Word":

      https://www.thechurchnews.com/living-faith/2022-05-21/music-and-the-spoken-word-indebtedness-and-gratitude-254972

Also, given the time difference between Guam and Utah, the second dedicatory session for the Yigo Guam Temple is likely roughly halfway done. I have no sources to confirm that, but once those sources are available, they will be passed along here. For now, my thanks once again to you all.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
