UPDATED: Current Apostolic Data

Hello again, everyone! It has been a tradition on this blog for me to provide updates on apostolic data every 7 weeks. Having last done so on Sunday, September 4, it is time to publish the newest such data. As with every two-part update, the first part contains updated data about the age and tenure length records for all 17 Church Presidents, in addition to updated information on the tenure length records for each of the 28 Presidents of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

The first document likewise notes information on the tenure length rankings for three sets of apostolic groups: the longest-serving First Presidencies (which will not be updated with the current First Presidency until 2024), in addition to the longest-serving groups of members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and groups of all ordained apostles (the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles), in addition to when each of those current groups will move up on the list.

Meanwhile, the second part of today's update shows the long-form and decimal ages for the members of the current First Presidency, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and the apostolic groups overall, in addition to the average ages of each group and apostolic nonagenarians (with 3 of the current 15 apostles being on that list, and th>

Hopefully, this shared data will be of interest to you all. Again, I offer an open invitation to ask anyone who has any questions about those documents to ask them here. I will, of course, continue to monitor all Church news updates and temple developments, and I will do my level best to bring word of those to you all as I become aware of all such reports.

In the meantime, that does it for now. All comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as the offered feedback is made per the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. I hope any of you who would like to share anything will take your opportunity to “sound off” in the comments below.

If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  1. Hello again, everyone! I somehow forgot this post had been published yesterday. Here is a link to comments I posted on the threads of the previous post yesterday:

    https://stokessoundsoff.blogspot.com/2022/10/breaking-temple-news-groundbreaking.html#c1444184051787786485

And apparently I also missed an update from the Newsroom yesterday:

    https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/naacp-church-jesus-christ-florence-fang-community-farm

I anticipate that breaking temple news will likely be shared this afternoon, and I will be sure to bring coverage of that when it happens. For now, my thanks once again to you all.

    2. The Church Temples site has once again shifted some of the general completion estimates for temples now under construction:

      https://docs.google.com/document/d/1L7HBLNZZTnlI4Dk8fpr3HZCf-wqkjUBcCCYqdxP7HRk/edit

That in turn will impact the more specific timing of all known temple events. Since there are changes in the queue either every day or even more than once a day, the latest updates will be reflected in my review of temple construction progress throughout the end of this year. I may or may not post an updated version of my teple construction progress report at some point in the near future, but other updates may need to be prioritized first. My thanks once again to you all.

No temple updates yet, but given the time difference ini some parts of the world, there will likely be one at some point this afternoon or evening. My thanks once again to you all.

    4. Well, although I am surprised there has not been a major temple announcement yet today, and although it is looking extremely likely that, given the time, there may not be one at all today, I am nonetheless pleased to report that the Church News has shared a report on the current status of the 118 temples announced by President Nelson:

      https://www.thechurchnews.com/temples/2022/10/24/23420133/118-temples-locations-announced-by-president-nelson-current-status

The author of that update, Brother Scott Taylor, a Church News staff writer, also authored an article sharing information about the newly-renovated Brigham Young Family Cemetary:

It also appears there are additional temple updates today. I am working on analyzing those and will provide updates ASAP once I assemble those details. My thanks once again to you all.

    6. For clarification, my comment above was supposed to note that the comment before that had included two links to the article about the new temple leaders for Suva Fiji, and that the document shared in my previous comment was the updated list of all temmples for which new leaders have been called this year. For some reason, that context was not included in the coment above. Sorry about that.

    12. Chris, thanks for taking time to comment. I always appreciate hearing from you. For the benefit of my other readers, this is the update to which Chris referred:

      https://www.thechurchnews.com/callings/2022/10/29/23421885/new-missionary-training-center-leaders-provo-india-south-africa-ghana-philippines-mexico

In the meantime, Chris, regarding your statement about the different wording for India, I noticed that too. It appears that the reason to use that terminology is that those individuals trained in that center may not be permitted to proselyte in that nation. We see similiar things in volatile places such as Russia, where the missionaries are instead known as "volunteers", who are only able to teach those who approach them with interest or questions. The Church tries to be respectful of other nations' laws and regulations to the fullest of their ability, and those individuals called to such areas are apparentlly trained at that center with that in mind. It's all part of the Church's efforts to be good global citizens and respect the laws of the land. Hope that information is helpful for context on this matter. As always, Chris, I appreciate you weighing in. Hope all is well with you and yours. Stay safe out there.

    13. When my wife joined the church in Mongolia, the missionaries also did not actively proselyte, at least during business hours. They volunteered in the communities, such as teaching English classes. My wife said they noticed and 'felt" something different about the elders, especially compared to others such as the peace corps. When they asked the elders about why they different, the elders said something like, "we can talk about that after hours or after class." Then she was taught about the holy ghost and the gospel

      Delete
    14. Chris, I apologize for my delayed acknowledgement of your second comment. I appreciate you sharing more about your wife's onversion to the gospel here. I think the Church has always done its' best to ensure that missionary efforts worldwide remain consistent with obeying, honoring, and sustaining the laws ofthe nations in which it is established.

Yet another example of how the Church strives to be good neighbors and global citizens. When I read your comment, it occurred to me to wonder if there is some reason the Church has not yet announced a temple in Mongolia. Governmental regulations or concerns would certainly play into that. That being said, hopefully when the time is right, the Church can and will get a temple built there. Thanks again for sharing those insights, Chris! I always appreciate hearing from you.

I was grateful to be able to watch that live as it happened. Elder Valeri V. Cordon presided over that groundbreaking as assigned. There are now 55 temples under construction, with 72 announced (4 of which have had groundbreakings scheduled as well). According to that update, construction is anticipated to get underway tomorrow, and is expected to take 2-3 years. However, it's worth noting that the Church almost always states that construction will be underway on temples the week following their groundbreakings, and it doesn't always occur that quickly. In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
