Hello again, everyone! A few minutes ago, the First Presidency officially announced the next major temple construction update. Contrary to what I had supposed, no temple dedications were announced, nor were any new groundbreakings set. Today's announcement is related solely to the temple announced in October 2022 as the Prosper Texas Temple. According to today's announcement, that temple will now be known as the McKinney Texas Temple.
The location of the temple and preliminary information about it has also been confirmed. An 8.16-acre site adjacent to and east of the existing chapel at 651 Stacey Road will serve as the location of the multi-story temple, which is anticipated to be roughly 44,000 square feet in area. As a result of this announcement, the number of temples for which no official information has been confirmed yet now stands at 51.
I am grateful for today's announcement. I continue to monitor any and all Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples updates and will be sure to pass word of those along to you all as they cross my radar. In the meantime, that does it for now. All comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated on any post at any time, as long as the offered feedback is made per the established guidelines.
I hope any of you who would like to share anything will take your opportunity to “sound off” in the comments below. Until my next post, I wish you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.
The Church News has also covered this announcement. My thanks once again to you all.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your blog. I was curious about the renaming. McKinney seems to be about 15 miles from Prosper. And 30+ miles from Dallas
DeleteHey, Chris! I'm just as surprised as you are by the name change. That was something I wasn't expecting. Maybe the McKinney region is more prominent than the Prosper region. It could be a nod to the chosen location, per the Church News article about this announcement. Unless the Church offers a more official explanation, we may never know. But then, I'm not sure we need to know why. I'm just glad for the announcement. Thank you, Chris, for being a longtime friend and follower of this blog. I appreciate you!
DeleteThe Church News has published two additional reports. The first details a Religious Freedom Webinar, while the second details the end of an amazing season for the BYU Provo Women's soccer team. My thanks once again to you all.
ReplyDeleteAnd a status update has been noted on the Antofagasta Chile Temple. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteThe Church News has shared one new report. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteOn this Tuesday, the Church News has shared a few new reports. The Church is supporting refugees in northeast Syria, Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles spoke at BYU-PW, and Aaron Sherinian, who oversees Deseret Management Corporation, was the guest at this week's Church News podcast. And an update has been noted on the status of the Salvador Brazil Temple. My thanks once again to you all.
ReplyDeleteGeneral Authority Seventy Elder Matthew L. Carpenter was the featured speaker at today's BYU-Provo Devotional. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteOn this Wednesday, the Church News has shared two updates, including coverage on the Women's Volleyball team at BYU-Provo, and a first-hand witness to then-Elder now-President Holland's miraculous recovery, as shared on social media by Elder Dale G. Renlund.
DeleteIt appears Elder Renlund accompanied President Ballard on many of his visits to check in on then-Elder Holland during the 5-week period when he was in the hospital and near death. As the quorum physician, after one such visit, Elder Renlund shared with President Ballard his assessment that Elder Holland's prognosis was not good. President Ballard responded, "Well, we'll just have to exercise our faith." They provided him a blessing during that same visit, and when President Ballard and Elder Renlund returned, they found Elder Holland much improved.
I was touched as I read the Church News report and Elder Renlund's Instragram post. Elder Renlund called Elder Holland's recovery "miraculous". And from what he said, I got the impression that even on days when President Ballard wasn't checking on Elder Holland in-person, another member of the Quorum of the Twelve or First Presidency was doing so. Elder Renlund wrapped up his social media post by attesting that, because he witnessed this miraculous recovery first-hand, he knows that now-President Holland is supposed to be here, and how grateful he is to have President Holland as his new Quorum President. President Holland responded to Elder Renlund's account with an expression of gratitude for him. My thanks once again to you all.
Here is one new report from the Church News. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteThe Church News has shared new information regarding where Latter-day Saint football coach Bronco Mendenhall is headed next, and has shared information about Church aid being provided after recent flooding in Uruguay. And although there are no new temple construction status updates, there has been another change noted in the queue of temples anticipated to be completed next year. The San Pedro Sula Honduras Temple formerly sat between the Tallahassee Florida and Salvador Brazil Temples, with all three (in addition to Abidjan Ivory Coast and Deseret Peak Utah) anticipated to be completed in early-to-mid 2024. The San Pedro Sula Honduras Temple now sits between the Mendoza Argentina Temple (with both Mendoza and San Pedro Sula anticiapted to be completed in early 2024) and the Abidjan Ivory Coast Temple (which, as previously noted, is anticipated to be completed in early-to-mid 2024.
DeleteSo as I noted previously, the queue of temples anticipated to be completed in 2024 will constantly be in flux as information and status changes affect that timing. In the meantime, I am cautiously optimistic we may get a temple dedication announcement on Monday. My thanks once again to you alll.
On this Thursday, the Church News has shared Elder Quentin L. Cook's visit to the British Parliament, in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which includes religious freedom provisions. Jon Ryan Jensen writes about Finding the Treasure of Christmas. And a tactile tour of the Orem Utah Temple has helped people with disabilities during that temple's open house. And the latest edition of "Latter-day Saints Around the World" shares stories from Canada, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, Peru and Uganda. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteHere is another article about how the Church is marking the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteAlthough both temples are still anticiapted to be completed in mid-to-late 2024, the Alabang Philippines Temple has now been moved ahead of the Farmington New Mexico Temple, with status updates having been provided on both temples today. My thanks once again to you all.
