BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: Site Location and Preliminary Information Released for the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple

Hello again, everyone! In a comment I posted earlier today, I noted the open house commencing for the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Temple and theorized that it would not be the only major temple construction announcement today. As it happens, I was correct. The First Presidency has confirmed the site location and preliminary information for the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple. Let's get right into the details:

As you might recall, the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple was announced by President Nelson last October. Unless I am mistaken, Tulsa is the first US temple originally announced at that time to have a site confirmed. At the northwest corner of a 25.7-acre site at 51st St. and 136th E Avenue, Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, the Church plans to build a single-story temple of approximately 29,600 square feet.

As a result of this update, the Church now has 105 announced temples, 5 of which have groundbreakings scheduled (with 3 of those groundbreakings set to take place this weekend). Of the remaining 100, sites have been confirmed for 54 others (with renderings having been released for 22 of those 54), and the remaining 46 lack official information.

Those numbers are getting better all the time. I am grateful for today's announcement and the opportunity to share it with you all here. I continue to monitor any and all Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples updates and will be sure to pass word of those along to you all as they cross my radar. In the meantime, that does it for now. All comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated on any post at any time, as long as the offered feedback is made per the established guidelines. I hope any of you who would like to share anything will take your opportunity to “sound off” in the comments below. Please subscribe if you liked what you read here and would like to be informed of newly added posts and comments. Thank you for the privilege of your time.

Until my next post, I wish you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

    8. I agree with you on that, Scott. But according to his biography on the Church website, he's still on medical leave . He is one of three that will be 70 next year, so hopefully he might speak in the April 2025 General Conference. Let me know if/when you have thoughts about GA Seventy speakers. Thanks.

  5. On this Friday, new leaders have been called for the Anchorage Alaska and Los Angeles California Temples. I have updated my document tracking these changes accordingly.

The latest edition of "This Week on Social" includes content from the following apostles: President Dallin H. Oaks, First Counselor in the First Presidency; Acting President Jeffrey R. Holland and Elders David A. Bednar, D. Todd Christofferson, and Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

It also included posts from the following general Church leaders: Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson; (via Relief Society Worldwide) and her Second Counselor, Sister Kristin M. Yee; Sister Andrea Munoz Spannaus, Second Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency (via Young Women Worldwide); Sisters Amy A. Wright and Tracy Y. Browning, the respective First and Second Counselors in the Primary General Presidency; Young Men General President Steven J. Lund and his First Counselor, Brother Bradley R. (Brad) Wilcox (who both posted individual and did a joint post with one another).

And Elder Dale G. Renlund and his wife, Sister Ruth L. Renlund, recently visited places in Sweden that are personally significant to Elder Renlund's family. They met with Church members from Festinord, and Elder Renlund noted, "I feel like I've come home." My thanks once again to you all.

    11. On this Sabbath Day, the Church News is providing a look at the soon-to-be 200 dedicated temples of the Church. This will be a 10-week series spanning today through October 27 (which will be one week following the dedication of the 200th operating temple of the Church, Salvador Brazil). First up is a general overview of the series.

That article was immediately followed by a look at the the first 20 dedicated temples. The latest iteration of "in Case You Missed It: Week in Review" recapped the top 9 developments covered by the Dhurch News this week, and key teachings from general Church leaders contextualize our "Come Follow Me" study, which will comprise Alma 53-63 inclusively.

And the Newsroom has looked back on the results of a significant counsel given by Elder David A. Bednar in 2014 (10 years ago, and also 10 years after his call to the apostleship alongside Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf. The Newsroom summarized those remarks after they were given on August 19, 2014. My thanks once again to you all..

    16. That last report above had a link issue. Sorry about that. The Church News also reported on the media day for the Mendoza Argentina and Salvador Brazil Temples, along with covering them both in this article. Meanwhile, Elder Patrick Kearon is in the Philippines, where he met with the president of that nation. As you might recall, Elder Kearon has reportedly been given apostolic oversight for the Philippines Area, so this visit may be in conjunction with that assignment. My thanks once again to you all.

    8. I should add that I am starting to look for any temple construction updates for today, but wanted to note that tomorrow will mark the media day for the Casper Wyoming Temple. Since that is the only open house starting this week, and because there were no new temple groundbreakings yesterday, I believe that the Church will cover the open house in the morning, and then make the next major temple construction announcement at some point during the 2:00 PM hour as usual. I will be sure to provide coverage of both updates tomorrow. My thanks once again to you all.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
