Hello again, everyone! At the top of this 2:00 PM hour, I am pleased to report that the next major temple construction announcement has been made. The First Presidency has confirmed the site location and released a rendering for the Chihuahua Mexico Temple, and an exterior rendering for the Buenos Aires City Center Argentina Temple has also been released. Let's get right into the details:
We start with the Chihuahua Mexico Temple, which will be built on the corner of Avenida de la Cantera and Avenida Real Escondido, Reserva Territorial la Hacienda, Chihuahua, Chihuahua, 31216. The single-story templle, planned to be roughly 19,000 square feet, will rise on a 5.87-acre site at that address. The accompanying exterior rendering speaks for itself.
Given its comparatively smaller size, it shouldn't take too long to build. The announced location and the release of the exterior rendering follow the announcement of this temple by Church President Russell M. Nelson during his April 2024 General Conference address. I will be intrigued to see how quickly this temple's approvals go through, as they are reportedly already being worked on by the Church.
We now turn our attention to the rendering of the Buenos Aires City Center Argentina Temple rendering, which follows its announcement in October 2022, and the confirmation of its site location two months later. It appears that the Buenos Aires City Center Argentina Temple will be a multi-story edifice, similar in design to the Bangkok Thailand Temple, which is built up rather than out.
As I am not great at analyzing exterior renderings, I will let others comment on anything I may have msised. I am grateful we got these two exterior renderings and the site location confirmation today. I had hoped we would get the dedication information for at least the Burley idaho Temple today, if not also the arrangements for the Alabang Philippines Temple, both of which have been mostly sitting completed for several weeks/a couple of months.
I still hold out hope, based on information I've received on my end, that there will be at least a couple more dedications before the end of the year, so hopefully such an announcement will come in a week or two. Stay tuned here for my coverage of the latest updates from the Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples sites. I’ll be sure to pass word of those along to you all as soon as I learn about them. In the meantime, that does it for now.

The Church News has covered the updates on the Chihuahua Mexico Temple but not the update on the Buenos Aires Argentina Temple, at least not yet. Also, it appears that the Church of Jesus Christ Temples page for the Chihuahua Mexico Temple has been taken down temporarily, in order to more easily make the updates to it. So I'm sure it will be back up later this afternoon, and that the Church News report on the update for Argentina's newest rendering will be released by the Church News shortly. For now, my thanks once again to you all.
ReplyDeleteAlso, this document shows the latest data about temples for which no official information has been confirmed yet.

DeleteOn this Tuesday, the Newsroom has shared a new report that speaks for itself. Meanwhile, the Church News has shared a few new apostolic ministry reports: study helps for the April 2025 General Conference Sunday Morning Session talk by Elder Gerrit W. Gong, Elder Patrick Kearon's ministry in the Philippines, and Elder David A. Bednar's Pacific Area ministry.
DeleteOther Church News reports highlight Church pioneers in Uruguay, the latest edition of the Church News podcast, BYU soccer teams' ministry in New Zealand, and the new leaders for the Chile Puerto Montt Mission. My thanks once again to you all.
Hello again, everyone! I had a very busy Wednesday, which is why this is my first chance to share the updates that were reported on what is now yesterday. So let's get right into those: The Church News posted study resources for the April 2025 General Conference Sunday Morning Session talk by Elder John A. McCune, a GA Seventy. The Newsroom and the Church News have both covered the death of former Relief Society General President Elaine L. Jack, with both resources also covering Elder Gary E. Stevenson's ministry in Uruguay. Sisters Kristin M. Yee (the Second Counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency) and Andrea M. Spannaus (the Second Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency) ministered in Brazil, while Primary General President Susan H. Porter ministered in Asia.
DeleteAnd in temple news, a new update on the Lindon Utah Temple indicates that all major construction has been completed, and that finishing touches are being applied by the Temple Department. I received new information that indicates there is still a good chance that the Burley Idaho, Alabang Philippines, Harare Zimbabwe, and Lindon Utah Temples could all be dedicated before the end of this year, and the fact that all of these temples have since been completed bodes well for that theory. But assuming all four aren't dedicated by the end of this year, at minimum, I'd anticipate that Burley and Lindon will be (as US dedications in general and Utah dedications in particular are easier to schedule than what usually happens with international temples in general and temples in the Philippines and in Africa particularly).
As an additional note, the completion estimate for the San Diego California Temple has been updated to late 2025, making it more likely that that temple will not be dedicated until mid-2026 at earliest. Additionally, there has been another slight change in the temple construction queue: The estimate for the Londrina Brazil Temple has been updated from mid-to-late 2026 to mid-2026, and it has been moved slightly up the queue to be between the Riberao Preto Brazil Temple and the Santiago West Chile Temple (both of which retain the same general completion estimate as Londrina).
As a fun note, on the homepage of the Church Temples site, the newest news item about the Londrina Brazil Temple notes that the construction crew assigned to that temple is using materials to accelerate construction, one of which is called "tilt-up concrete". And as another fun note, the latest update on the Neiafu Tonga Temple indicates that that temple uses the same core plan as Pago Pago American Samoa, Nairobi Kenya, Harare Zimbabwe, Freetown Sierra Leone, Lagos Nigeria, and Bahia Blanca Argentina Temples, which means each of those temples have similar square footage. I had thought that Neiafu and Pago Pago were modular temples, but I was clearly mistaken in regards to that impression. My thanks once again to you all.
One other thing I forgot to mention: I have created two documents that reflect the latest changes in the construction queue: this one was current as of June 9, and this one is current as of yesterday (June 11), which is when the updates on Lindon and Londrina were noted. My thanks once again to you all.
