Hello again, everyone! Several of you have asked about this, so here it is: my list of the most likely specific locations for which I feel a temple could be announced during the October 2025 General Conference. Note that to find those estimated picks in that document, you will have to scroll down to the bottom thereof.

For any of you who don't want to go to the trouble of scrolling to the bottom of that document, here is the list in question:

Also of note, although I have this list of my more specific picks, I still go off of my larger list of potentital new temple locations when "grading" my temple predictions vs. what will be announced in October. So while the larger list is still more relevant to the accuracy of these predictions, those of you who wanted it now have my more specific list of what seems to me to be the most likely picks this go-round.

Stay tuned here for my coverage of the latest updates from the Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples sites. 1. Hello again, everyone! With July 17 winding down, I just wanted to note a couple of things quickly here: Today marked the official start of public tours for the Farmington New Mexico Temple, and those will continue through Saturday, August 2. Secondly, in just around 35 minutes, I will be publishing a midnight birthday tribute to Elder Patrick Kearon, who will be marking his 64th birthday on July 18. My thanks once again to you all.

  2. James, I follow your posts on this every year! I love this party of conference. Any reason for the switch from a Spanish Fork temple to a 3rd Provo?

    1. A temple for Spanish For was announced in April. Hope that helps. To whom may I offer thanks for the inquiry.

  3. Sorry, I meant to ask if you thought a temple in the Springville/Mapleton area was more likely? My family in the area says the church owns land by Maple Mountain High School on the border between SF/Maple, so I’m curious if Springville might be more likely, but with the number of temples opening in the area (Provo rock canyon, Lindon, Lehi, SF) I wonder if the church will wait a bit to see how the temples are filled.

    1. I have had Mapleton on my personal radar for a while due to a report I had received that the Church had purchased land for an undisclosed project there some years ago. So that is more likely to be the choice for Northern Utah County over Springville. I think the Church will wait to announce a temple for Springville until the Spanish Fork Utah Temple is at least under construction, and in the meantime, building one in Mapleton makes more sense. But once Spanish Fork is up and running (which may be 5-7 years from now), I could see one in Springville. I could also see a reconstruction/renovation of the temple in Payson once ones for Spanish Fork, Springville, and Mapleton can cover that area for such a renovation. But such a renovation would likely be 20 years away at minimum, unless I am mistaken. As for the reasoning behind a third Temple to serve the Provo area, there were many theories online and from various sources I've read and contacts I've consulted that see such a prospect as more likely with the renaming of the Provo Utah Temple as the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple. The theory goes on to postulate that there are other prominent landmarks that could be used for the name of the temple. What landmarks they are may depend on where the Church may decide to build such an edifice. Hope that addresses your question. To whom may I offer my thanks for this comment?

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
