Hello again, everyone! As anticipated, the First Presidency made the next major temple construction announcement a few moments ago. The groundbreaking ceremonyt has been set for the Huntsville Alabama Temple. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 15, under the direction of Elder John D. Amos of the United States Southeast Area Presidency, who is a native of Alabama.
This will be the third straight groundbreaking in three weeks, and the tenth overall for 2026. I hope the First Presidency can continue to set one groundbreaking per week over the next few weeks. That said, I am a little surprised that we only got 1 groundbreaking announcement today. I had hoped for additional dedications to be set, but apparently that's not in the cards this week. With yesterday's announcement of the first leaders for the Modesto Californina and Knoxville Tennessee Temples, I am reasonably certain both of those temples will be dedicated by the end of this year.
There are now a total of 6 temples for which dedications might be set soon. I had mentioned that the Church might be having difficulties adding the necessary finishing touches to some temples outside the Americas. Whether or not that is the case, obviously scheduling a temple dedication is easy once those fnal touches are taken care of. So hopefully the 6 temples with major construction completed (or in one case, nearly completed) might soon have dedication announcements.
I was also surprised by the announcement of this groundbreaking, as I was only estimating it to occur either in the late months of this year or in the early months of 2027. But that just goes to show that, as always, the Lord's ways and thoughts are higher than my ways and thoughts. While this post was being prepared, the Church News also covered today's groundbreaking announcement.
I am grateful we got this announcement today. I invite you all to stay tuned here for my coverage of the latest updates from the Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples sites. I’ll be sure to pass word of those along to you all as soon as I learn about them. In the meantime, that does it for now.

The to tour the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple. The Church News shares the origin story of the new hymn "Welcome Home". And studying and teaching resources have been shared for the April 2026 General Conference talk by President Emily Belle Freeman. And while this comment was being prepared for publication here, the Church News shared an additional report that speaks for itself. With no new reports from the Newsroom, any subsequent reports or temple construction status updates will be published here as I learn about them. My thanks once again to you all.
ReplyDeleteSorry,. The links for the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple were somehow omitted from my comment above. So we have the updates from the Newsroom and the Church News. My thanks once again to you all.

DeleteMeanwhile, the Newsroom reports how the Church is providing relief in Mindanao Phillippines following an earthquake; and the Church recently participated in a UAE conference on Media, AI and the family.
My thanks once again to you all.
Sorry. I apparently didn't include the link to the article about the UAE conference mentioned above. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteA new guide has been released to help Church members worldwide implement changes to the Sunday meeting schedule that will be effective September 6, 2026. And the Church is helping in Mindanao (as previously reported) following an earthquake in that region. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteAfter what has been a very busy Friday for me, I am pleased to now share the latest from the Church News: We begin with study and teaching resources for the April 2026 General Conference talk by Elder Edward B. Rowe. A new Church News video features President Dieter F. Uchtdorf,, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, following the dedication of the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple. Information has been provided for attending the concert for the speaks for itself; while the latest edition of "This Week on Social" shared counsel from the following general Church leaders:
ReplyDeletePresident D. Todd Christofferson, Second Counselor in the First Presidency; Acting President Dieter F. Uchtdorf and Elders Quentin L. Cook (from whom more than one post was featuredO and Clark G. Gilbert (Elders Cook and Gilbert did a joint post together), Ronald A. Rasband, Ulisses Soares, and Gérald Caussé of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Sister J. Anette Dennis, First Counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency); Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman and her Second Counselor, Sister Andrea Munoz Spannaus.
My thanks once again to you all.
My apologies. Apparently I didn't include the link to the second story I mentioned in my comment above. The Church News video in question can be found here. More news to follow in a subsequent comment. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteThe last couple of days have been busy ones for the Church News, Newsroom, and for me as well. It's time to catch up on the news and analysis I missed. On Sunday, the Newsroom reported on President Christofferson's support of religious freedom at an event in Philadelphia, later speaking to youth and missionaries in Toronto Ontario.
DeleteThen today, the Newsroom reported on the call for volunteers, performers, and guides in preparation for the open house celebration of the Salt Lake Temple, which, as previously noted, kicks off on April 5 of next year and goes through October 1. In addition to that, open house tours kicked off for both the San Diego California and Clevenad Ohio Temples. Neither news release mentions which top Church leaders were there for the media days of these two temples. But given that we have both of these reports today already, I still fully anticipate something additional may be announced at 2:00 PM MDT here in Utah, which is now 3.5 hours away.
That said, we turn to the Church News updates now. Having already reported on the latest edition of "This Week on Social" from Friday, one other report from the Church News that day speaks for itself. Moving on to Saturday, the Church News introduced new GA Seventy Elder Jeremiah J. Morgan; shared insights from Church News editor Jon Ryan Jensen about how the apostles wear out their lives in God's service; provided the text of the message given by Brother Derrick Porter during yesterday's 5,048th episode of "Music & the Spoken Word; and shared an article introducing the sculptor of two new statues on Temple Square.
Yesterday, the Church News published the following reports: 7 quotes form the April 2026 General Conference for those who feel overwhelmed; highlighted the sole French unit in the United States; recapped the top 9 developments from the last week in the latest edition of "In Case You Missed It: Week in Review; provided a glimpse of what Church leaders have taught aobut 1 Samuel 17-19, 24-26, and 2 Samuel 5-7, which are the "Come, Follow Me" chapters for this week; and Elder Rasband provided an unprecedented inside look at one of the missionary assignment rrooms at Church headquarters.
DeleteThe reports from today (Monday) will be recapped in the comments of the next post. My thanks once again to you all.
