Hello again, everyone! As the second quarter (and first half) of 2026 draws to a close, I am pleased to provide a look back at temple construction progress during this quarter. This report shows where things stood at the beginning of the year, with this report showing where the temple construction progress stood a few days prior to the April 2026 General Conference, and this report showing where things stand at the end of this second quarter (and first half) of 2026. There have been several pretty significant updates during this quarter. Anhd heading into the third quarter (and second half) of 2026, there is a lot to which we can look forward.
I am assuming that will continue to include Monday or Tuesday announcements most weeks. So to the best of my ability, I will try to continue to share updates on that front here as soon as possible. I invite you all to stay tuned here for my coverage of the latest updates from the Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples sites. I’ll be sure to pass word of those along to you all as soon as I learn about them.
In the meantime, that does it for now. All comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated on any post at any time, as long as all such feedback is made per the established guidelines. I hope any of you who would like to share anything will take your opportunity to “sound off” in the comments below. If you liked what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added posts and comments, please subscribe to receive the applicable updates. Thank you for the privilege of your time. Until my next post, I wish you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.
Hi! I'm a member from Barcelona, Spain. The committees for the groundbreaking of the Barcelona Spain Temple are alresdy being organized. How far in advance are they created before ground is broken? Thanks for your time.
ReplyDeleteHello, Juanes, and thanks for your inquiry. As to your question, I believe it varies from temple to temple. But the fact that the groundbreaking committee has been formed, in addition to the knowledge that the temple site has been cleared and that government approvals are being sought, does lead me to believe that the groundbreaking for the Barcelona Spain Temple may occur much sooner than I projected in my report above. Thanks for letting me know about this update. I appreciate hearing from you.
DeleteOn this Wednesday, the Church News has covered study and teaching resources for the April 2026 General Conference talk by Elder Gerrit W. Gong. And with only 1 talk left (the concluding remarks from Church President Dallin H. Oaks) to provide resources for, it'll be interesting to see what the Church News moves onto next. The Church News also reported on the latest updates on the Salt Lake Temple that were originally reported by the Newsroom yesterday. And the Church News has also covered counsel offered to missionaries by Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman, who is a member of the Missionary Executive Council. Also, based on the comment from Junaez above, I have also updatd my thoughts about the timing and order for temple groundbreakings, which are now reflected in my third temple construction progress report for this year. My thanks once again to you all.
ReplyDeleteThe Newsroom has reported that President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, welcomed the president of Switzerland to Church headquarters on Tuesday. Next year will mark the 175th anniversary of the Church in Switzerland. The Newsroom also reported that singer I am Tongi will headline the 2025 Utah Area YSA Conference next month. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteSorry. The name of the singer is Iam Tongi, not I am Tonigi. Autocorrect strikes again. Meanwhile, the Chrch News has published an additional report, which speaks for itself. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteOn this Thursday, the Church News has shared study and teaching resources for the April 2026 General Conference talk by President Dallin H. Oaks (which are his concluding remarks for the conference). The First Presidency has also called for a unified fast for religious liberty worldwide this Sunday. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteThe Church News covered the aforementioned headliner for the Utah YSA Conference 2026, Iam Tongi. And with renovation wrapping up on the Salt Lake Temple ahead of the beginning of that temple's open house (on Monday, April 5, 2027), see a new Church News video about that temple. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteAnd at the Seminar for New Mission Leadership, Elder Dale G. Renlund underscored the key role of member support for missionary work throughout the world. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteOn this Friday, the Church News has reshared links to all of their study and teaching guides for talks given during the April 2026 General Conference. The first leaders have been called for both the Port Moresby Papua New Guinea and Port Vila Vanuatu Temples. As a result of those calls, the number of temples to have new leaders called this year now rises to 57, unless I have miscounted or missed anything.
DeleteIn view of those two temples now having their first leaders named, the Port Vila Vanuatu Temple has moved ahead of the Freetown Sierra Leone Temple in the construction queue. I have therefore updated my document showing the updated general completion order for temples under construction or undergoing renovations accordingly.
The Church News also reported on President Uchtdorf meeting at Church headquarters with the president of Switzerland and shared the latest edition of "This Week on Social", which included social media content from the following general Church leaders:
Elders Gerrit W. Gong and Clark G. Gilbert of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson; and Sisters Amy A. Wright and Tracy Y. Browning, the outgoing First and Second Counselors in the Primary General Presidency.
My thanks once again to you all.
The Church News has shared comments from Church leaders after the dedication of the Nauvoo Illinois Visitors' Center. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteHappy Independence Day to all of my readers and friends in the United States! On this Saturday, the Church News has only shared a few new reports: Scott Taylor, managing editor of the Church News, shares his advice for preparing to attend Church each Sunday. In a new Church News video, Elder Ronald A. Rasband celebrates liberty, love, and religious freedom in the United States. And tomorrow, in a special edition of "Music & the Spoken Word", for the first time in its history, there will be two performances, one at the usual time (9:30 AM) and the other at 11:00 AM. In addition, the Spoken Word" portion will be presented tomorrow by Coach Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs NFL team rather than by Brother Derrick Porter. This will be episode 5,051 of the historic broadcast. With no updates from the Newsroom today, any temple construction updates will be shared later this evening. My thanks once again to you all..
ReplyDeleteOn this Sabbath Day thus far, the Church News has published a couple new reportsL 24 new stake presidencies recently began serving, 2 for newly-created stakes, and 22 other stake presidencies were reorganized. The Church News has <a href="https://www.thechurchnews.com/history-archive/2026/07/05/timeline-history-united-states-church-of-jesus-christ-religious-liberty/ >also provided timelines</a> for milestones in US and Church history. Withnownew updates from the Newsroom or the Church Temples site today thus far, any subsequent updates from either source or the Church News will be shared here later today as my time and circumstances allow me to do so. For now, my thanks once again to you all.
DeleteThe second link I tried to share above was broken. My apologies for that oversight. The Church News has also recapped the top 8 updates from the last week in the latest edition of "In Case You Missed It: Week in Reivew". And the Newsrom has shared coverage of the "Independence Day Special episode of "Music & the Spoken Word", featuring Kansas City Chiefs Coach Andy Reid. My thanks once again to you all..
DeleteWith our "Come, Follow Me" study this next week centering on 2 Kings 2-7 (6 chapters in all), see what Church leaders have said about those 6 chapters. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteConstruction status updates have been provided for the Cagayan de Oro Philippines and Jacksonville Florida Temples. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteThe Newsroom has been intermittently unavailable throughout this afternoon and evening. Hopefully whatever the issue is will be fixed soon. I will also note here that, now that we are in the month of July, there may or may not be regular weekly announcements of major temple construction news, due to the fact that July is the recess month for General Authorities. But if there is any temple news announced during this month, you can count on my covering it. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteThe Church News has shared their coverage of the "Music & the Spoken Word" Independence Day special, which reveals, among other things, that Church President Dallin H. Oaks and Acting President Dieter F. Uchtdorf and Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. My thanks once again to you all.
DeleteOn this Monday, the Church News has provided a few updates: their coverage on the Newsroom report of Elder Renlund's remarks about members' roles in missionary work. And a new Church News video about the dedication of the Nauvoo Illinois Temple Visitors' Center.
DeleteBecause it is now July (the annual recess for the General Authorities of the Church), I don't have any clue whether or not we will get any new temple construction news this month. But I have preprepared posts to publish here during the regular 2:00 PM MDT hour in which temple news is usually announced. Those posts will either be update with my analysis of any announcements that are made, or will be deleted from this blog if there is no news reported. So stay tuned here to find out either way. My thanks once again to you all.
The Newsroom is down again, so we don't know if there is any new temple news today. I'll monitor the Newsroom through this afternoon to see if it comes back up. My thanks once again to you all.
