Reposted list of cities ripe for a temple announcement

I am reposting the list of temples that may be announced soon in light of new knowledge that has recently come to my attention. Here's the list:

Nicaragua (Managua; proposed in 2012 by Elder Russell M. Nelson; land has already been purchased for it and an announcement is imminent there when membership warrants it); Papua New Guinea (Port Moresby; land has been purchased for it and an announcement is imminent there when membership warrants it); Arkansas (Bentonville; land has been purchased for it and an announcement is imminent there when membership warrants it); Puerto Rico (San Juan); Kiribati (Tarawa); Sierra Leone (Freetown); Uganda (Kampala); Kenya (Nairobi; publicly proposed by President Gordon B. Hinckley in 1999); Montana (Missoula; temple was publicly proposed there in 2016 by Elder David A. Bednar); Utah (Tooele/Layton/Lehi/Kaysville); Hungary (Budapest); Nigeria (Lagos); Bolivia (La Paz); South Dakota (Rapid City); Mexico (Puebla); Chile (Valparaiso); Idaho (Pocatello); New Zealand (Auckland); Philippines (Davao); Scotland (Edinburgh); Virginia (Richmond); Mongolia (Ulaanbaatar); Spain (Barcelona); Wyoming (Cody); Brazil (Brasilia/Belo Horizonte); Argentina (Neuquen); Ghana (Kumasi).

Alternative locations: Ivory Coast (2nd and possibly 3rd temples; may be needed due to extreme growth in the area); Kasai or other DR Congo region (Kasai proposed in 2016 by Neil L. Andersen; may be needed due to extreme growth in the area); Vilnius Lithuania (proposed in 1993 by M. Russell Ballard); Maracaibo Venezuela (proposed in 1999 by Gordon B. Hinckley); Singapore (proposed in 2000 by Gordon B. Hinckley); 2nd Southwest Salt Lake Valley temple (proposed in 2005 by Gordon B. Hinckley; more than likely because land has already been purchased for it); alternate dark-horse locations: Orem/Heber Utah; Maputo Mozambique; Oslo Norway; Antananarivo Madagascar.

  1. Do you think other temples in Oregon, Washington, or California are likely soon? Or Brasilia Brazil?

  2. Other temples for Oregon, Washington, and California are all likely possibilities. I just don't think they are as imminent as some of these others. But President Monson has caught me off guard with his last few temple announcements, so it's not out of the question. As for Brasilia, that temple is in my list above and may very well be the next Brazilian temple to be announced. As always, thanks for commenting.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
