BREAKING NEWS: First Presidency Announces Changes to Area Seventies Quorums; Creation of Four New Quorums
Those serving in the Pacific and Philippines Areas will be assigned to the Eighth Quorum. The area seventies living within the South America Northwest and South America South Areas will constitute the Ninth Quorum. The final three Quorums will include those serving in the six North American Areas. Those serving in the North America Central, North America Northeast, and North America Southeast Areas will constitute the Tenth Quorum. Those area seventies in the North America Southwest and North America West Areas will constitute the Eleventh Quorum. And those serving in the boundaries of the Utah Area will now fall under the Twelfth Quorum.
When I originally suggested that new Quorums could be created to break up some of the larger Quorums, I never envisioned anything like this. But taking the approach of dividing the area seventies by goegraphical area will enable the Church to subsequently call as many area seventies as may be needed for each Quorum, which may involve a higher number thereof in each Quorum at some point in the very near future. As a result of this announcement, I have many updates to make to my list of Area Seventies over the next little while. With two major announcements in one day (even coming within 2-3 hours of each other), I hope that means that other major announcements will be coming down the pike in the days ahead, especially relating to temple construction efforts. I will monitor all such news and bring you all word of those developments as I become aware of them.
That does it for now. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such comments are made in accordance with the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.
At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.
I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.
And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.
Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.

Hello again, everyone! Several significant developments have been reported on a few different fronts today. The Newsroom has covered more responses from Church members living in the Middle East as a result of the announcement of a temple for Dubai UAE:
ReplyDeletehttps://news-middleeast.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/latter-day-saints-celebrate-the-announcement-of-a-temple-in-dubai
The temple in Dubai is anticipated to serve, at minimum, those in the following nations: Bahrain, Jordan, Kurdistan-Iraq, Lebanon and Syria, in addition to the United Arab Emirates. The temple may also serve Saints in parts of Europe and Asia who would be closer to the Dubai UAE temple than they are to their currently-assigned temples.
And KSL has provided breaking news coverage of guidance from the Utah Area Presidency relative to Church services resuming in the Utah Area:
https://www.ksl.com/article/46755370/utah-area-presidency-approves-utah-latter-day-saint-wards-to-meet-again
The recommendations are to temporarily suspend the use of sacrament meeting programs and meetinghouse hymnbooks, confine meeting substance to a focus on partaking of the Sacrament and necessary ward and stake business, to only hold Sacrament Meeting for now, to ensure proper social distancing prevails between families, and to focus on measures that may be necessary to particularly protect those in the vulnerable demographic of the population who are more susceptible to the possible contraction of COVID-19.
And new information received today indicates that a building permit has been submitted for the Feather River California Temple, which will have a groundbreaking in less than two months. In addition, less than a month after the location of the Bentonville Arkansas Temple was confirmed, yesterday night, a conditional use permit was approved by the City of Bentonville Planning Commission. I am in the process of reevaluating the information I have on temples for which a groundbreaking may be safely anticipated in the near future, and will have any updates to those estimates published here ASAP after I finish making them. My thanks once again to you all.

Thanks again, all.
Within the last half hour or so, the Church News has published an article introducing Elder Thierry K. Mutombo, who is the first General Authority Seventy native to the Democratic Republic of the Congo:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.thechurchnews.com/leaders-and-ministry/2020-05-21/new-general-authority-elder-mutombo-democratic-republic-of-the-congo-184389
It appears the Church is putting Elder Mutombo right to work. He has been asked to serve starting August 1 as Second Counselor in the newly-created Africa Central Area. He will serve alongside native Kenyan General Authroity Seventy Elder Joseph W. Sitati, who has been called as president of that area. This may mark the first time in a long time that 2 individuals native to a Church area have simultaneously served together in a position of oversight involving their native lands. And it is almost certainly the first time every that two individuals of color served together in an area presidency. I hope my meaning is not mistaken there.
My thanks once again to you all.
