BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: Specific Times Unofficially Confirmed for Temple Groundbreakings on September 11

Hello again, everyone! I have mentioned in the past my theory that, if the Nairobi Kenya and Neiafu Tonga Temples both had their groundbreakings at the same time of day (such as 9:00 or 10:00 AM local time, then the groundbreaking for the Neiafu Tonga Temple would likely occur first, since Tonga was 10 hours ahead of Kenya. In the interim, I have looked for (and failed to find) exact times for those events. That search led me to Facebook, where the relevant pages noted that the delayed broadcast for the Neiafu Tonga Temple groundbreaking will be available to view from that page at 10:00 PM MDT tonight.

By contrast, the Nairobi Kenya Temple groundbreaking will be available through that temple's Facebook page at 12:30 AM Utah time tonight, when September 10 goes into September 11. So it appears that, as I had anticipated, the broadcast of the previously-held Neiafu groundbreaking will be available to watch 2.5 hours before the broadcst for the Nairobi groundbreaking.I anticipate that reports on those groundbreakings could be made available not long after those broadcasts end. So I will keep my eyes open for that and will probably update this breaking news post with the sources confirming those groundbreakings once those are available. I was grateful to have been able to find this information and to pass it along to you all here.

That does it for now. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such comments are made in accordance with the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

Added at around 8:45 PM The Church Temples site has unoffically confirmed that the groundbreaking has been held, but the release of the official report on that is still pending. This means the Church now has 42 temples under construction and 42 others announced. The anticipated completion of that temple has been set as sometime in 2024. Additional updates will follow as official sources confirm the information. For now, my thanks once again to you all.

CORRECTION (added just after 10:00 PM): At some point following the publication of this post, the times noted on the two Facebook pages I mentioned apparently changed. It's now been noted that the groundbreaking for the Nairobi Kenya Temple will be streamed on the aforementioned page at 2:00 AM MDT (just over 3 hours from now, while the delayed broadcast of the Neiafu Tonga Temple will not be available until tomorrow night at 10:00 PM MDT. Once reports are shared about the two temple groundbreakings, I will be sure to pass those along here. My thanks once again to you all.

    1. The Pacific edition of the Newsroom has provided confirmation of the groundbreaking being held for the Neiafu Tonga Temple:

      https://news-nz.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/church-breaks-ground-for-neiafu-tonga-temple-130-years-after-first-missionaries-arrived-in-island-nation

I will keep my eyes open for confirmation of the Nairobi Kenya Temple's groundbreaking. For now, my thanks once again to you all.

    2. I must have again misinterpreted the information about the broadcast schedule for the Nairobi Kenya Temple groundbreaking, because looking at the Facebook page just now, it shows the groundbreaking in question will take place roughly one hour from now. So with that in mind, it's likely we could see a report on that within the next couple of hours. Once such a report is published, I will mention that in another new comment. For now, my thanks once again to you all.

    3. On this Saturday, new photographs submitted to the Church Temples site show that the groundbreaking for the Nairobi Kenya Temple did occur as scheduled (with the time difference between Utah and Kenya meaning that it took place around 12:30 AM in Utah, which would havve been 9:30 AM on September 11 in Nairobi Kenya. Given the time difference, with the time in Kenya now approaching 10:00 PM Saturday, since the Newsroom has not shared an official report on the groundbreaking yet, probably the earliest we can expect such a report may be around 8:00 PM or so tonight, unless the report is currently being made ready for publication.

When ground was broken for the Neiafu Tonga Temple, the Church had 42 temples under construction and 42 others announced. In view of the confirmation of the Nairobi Kenya Temple groundbreaking, the Church now has 43 under construction and 41 announced. I'd have to check back on some data, but unless I'm mistaken, this marks the first time in recent memory when the Church has had a higher number of temples under construction than those remaining in the queue of announced temples. Given that we also have preliminary details on several other temples, I think a few more groundbreakings will be announced prior to the October 2021 General Conference. I'll do my best to track all of that and pass it along to you. For now, my thanks once again to you all.

    4. The Church News continues to cover the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9/11. That coverage today centered on the hybrid edition of "Music & the Spoken Word", featuring past performances in which the Choir sang patriotic songs, and included a reairing of a performance of "Angels Among Us" by Kristen Chenoweth, which was originally featured in the 2019 Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert.

Additionally, when that broadcast reairs on the Church's media channels, KSL, and BYUtv, it will feature a unique new spoken word message. Although those weekly messages have been prepared and shared by Lloyd Newell, Jane Clayson Johnson, a former journalist and member of the Church provided that message in the broadcast. The following reports share the details:

    5. The Newsroom also covered the special edition of "Music & the Spoken Word":

      https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/tabernacle-choir-9-11-special

And apparently, I was incorrect in my previous statement that a confirmation of the report on the groundbreaking for the Nairobi Kenya Temple would not be provided until later today. Here is the Newsroom report on the event:

      https://news-africa.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/a-reason-to-hope-nairobi-kenya-temple-groundbreaking?country=kenya

With that source confirming the groundbreaking for Kenya's first temple has taken place, the only temples left in the queue are those announced by President Nelson which are awaiting more official information. My thanks once again to you all.

    6. A short time ago, the Church News provided its' own coverage of the groundbreaking for the Neiafu Tonga Temple:

      https://www.thechurchnews.com/archives/2021-09-11/groundbreaking-neiafu-tonga-temple-royalty-225161

I will be very intrigued to see how soon full-scale efforts can begin on the latest temples that have had a groundbreaking. The Church has also not been able to begin full-scale efforts on the Antofagasta Chile Temple as of yet, but hopefully that will also change soon. My thanks once again to you all.

    7. An update has been provided on the Moses Lake Washington Temple:

      https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/moses-lake-washington-temple/

Additionally, it's worth onting here that I think we are likely to see a shift in the queue of temples aanticipated to be completed in 2024. That theory is based on my belief that several of the smaller temples could be moved ahead of a larger temple like Bengaluru. It will be interesting to see what happens there. My thanks once again to you all.

    1. I will be running checks for temple updates shortly here, but wanted to note two other things here: First, a recent check I did on the status of COVID-19 in Tokyo Japan, Hamilton New Zealand, Yigo Guam, and Quito Ecuador, each of these cities are either currently under a lockdown due to a surge in cases, or have limits regarding indoor and outdoor gatherings. With that in mind, I think I need to correct something I've noted previously: Although I was hopeful as recently as last week that any of these 4 could have official arrangements announced in the near future. Obviously, in view of ongoing or relatively recent lockdowns in each of these cities, those announcements will probably not come as quickly as I'd hoped earlier this month.

In the interim, I do believe other temples could have groundbreakings set. I think official announcements could come down the pike in the near future for the Elko Nevada, Port Moresby Papua New Guinea, Bahia Blanca Argentina, and Willamette Valley Oregon Temples, though I am also keeping Farmington New Mexico, Grand Junction Colorado, and Burley Idaho Temples as well. And I can't in good conscience rule out any surprising announcements about other temples for which groundbreakings could soon be announced. I will monitor all of this and bring you all word of updates as I receive them. My thanks once again to you all.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
