Post-Conference Document Analysis: Part Two—Additional Relevant Documents

Hello again, everyone! Having just provided the first part of my two-post analysis on General Conference, I am back to share some additional analysis I have put together. First up, we have the length of talks given by each of our apostles. A side-by-side comparison of that document to the lengths of talks given during the April 2021 General Conference, you'll notice that the length of time taken by each apostle was shortened by between 2-4 minutes.

In view of that fact, and in view of the fact that President Nelson and his counselors each gave 1 less talk each by contrast to what occurred last October, more time was made available for other general leaders to speak. In April, there was a total of 15 talks given by other leaders (the non-apostolic speakers).

By contrast, 22 General Authorities and General Officers spoke in October, which makes sense in view of the decision to reinstate the Saturday Evening Session so more general leaders could speak Because each member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles gave one talk each, and the prophet and his cousnelors gave one less talk apiece, the consequent adjustments were noted to the running total of talks given by our apostles.

And in view of the aforementioned talk transcript release by the Church (which included the title of each talk), I was able to also create a mock-up showing what the table of contents for the November 2021 Liahona might look like. I anticiapte the PDF of that magazine will be available within the next week or two, so we'll see how close my predictions come this time around.

I am grateful to have been able to provide this two-part analysis of General Conference, and my documents related thereunto. I continue to monitor all Church news updates and reported temple developments and will bring word of those to you all as I become aware thereof.

That does it for now. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such comments are made in accordance with the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  1. Hello again, everyone! The Church News has shared the following additional updates:

It is also worth noting that I'm still hoping that opening arrangements might soon be announced for the Yigo Guam and Quito Ecuador Temples, with an announcement about the first president and matron for Quito also announced soon.

Whenever the opening arrangements are announced for Yigo, that might be done at around 9:00 AM Yigo time, which is 5:00 PM the previous day in Utah

Additionally, hopefully reopening arrangements could be announced soon for Tokyo Japan and Hamilton New Zealand could also soon be announced.

9:00 AM Tokyo time is 6:00 PM the preceding day in Utah, and 9:00 AM Hamilton time is 2:00 PM the preceding day in Utah.

It's also worth noting that groundbreakings for the Neiafu and Pago Pago Temples were originally announced just less than a year after their renderings were released.

So it seems likely that the Port Moresby Papua New Guinea Temple groundbreaking might be announced soon as well. 9:00 AM in Port Moresby is 5:00 PM the preceding day in Utah.

And given the fact that some US temples have had groundbreakings announced in the afternoon local time, I'm hopeful we could see groundbreakings announced for the Elko Nevada, Willamette Valley Oregon, Grand Junction Colorado, Farmington New Mexico (with a rendering released at the time the groundbreaking is announced), Burley Idaho, and Yorba Linda California Temples.

So I think there will be a lot of breaking temple developments throughout the rest of this month. My thanks once again to you all.

  2. Hello again, everyone! As the week draws to a close, the Newsroom and the Church News have each shared one new update:

I would just add here that for US temples lately, groundbreaking arrangements have sometimes been announced on the afternoon hours here in Utah. So it's possible US temple groundbreakings could be announced this afternoon. Above and beyond that, the mid-afternoon to early evening hours in Utah are the mid-morning hours in Tokyo Japan, Hamilton New Zealand, Yigo Guam, Port Moresby Papua New Guinea, Port Vila Vanuatu, and Tarawa Kiribati temples, so it's possible today or tomorrow between 2:00-6:00 PM here in Utah will be mid-morning in those locationns, so announcements for at least a few of those temples could have their next construction milestones announced by the end of this week. My thanks once again to you all.

    2. The Church News continues to highlight areas of the Church in which a temple has been announced in 2021. The latest edition highlights the 3 Mexican cities (Queretaro and Torreon in April, and Culiacan earlier this month):

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
