BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: Revised Rendering Released for Yorba Linda California Temple

Hello again, everyone! I have some breaking temple news to report. I had mentioned in the threads of another post that a provisional permit had been granted for the Yorba Linda California Temple, conditional on the Church reducing the height of the steeple. This afternoon, we now have information about the revised rendering, which was just released this afternoon. The spire has been lowered, and will now be located just above the entrance (the previous rendering showed the spire in the center of the temple).

Based on the fact that the Church has met the requirements to lower the spire, unless something changes, plans for the groundbreaking of that temple (which will occur next Saturday, June 18, on the same day as the groundbreaking for the Smithfield Utah Temple) are likely good to go ahead as scheduled. Speaking of the next two groundbreakings, the Church has indirectly confirmed today that the groundbreaking for the Yorba Linda California Temple will take place at 11:00 AM here in Utah, which is 10:00 AM in Yorba Linda. I haven't yet heard anything indicating what time the Smithfield Utah Temple groundbreaking might occur, but I assume that will be sometime around 11:00 AM as well. I will have reports on those events as soon as they are provided.

In the meantime, that does it for now. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such feedback offered is consistent with the established guidelines.I hope any of you who would like to share anything will take your opportunity to “sound off” in the comments below. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  1. Hello again, everyone! In the threads of the previous post, I shared the following comment about new content from the Newsroom and the Church News today:

    1. The Church News provided coverage on the revised rendering a short time ago:

Meanwhile, the president and prime minister of Cape Verde have visited the Praia Cape Verde Temple during its' open house:

Before I move on to the final new update from the Church News, I wanted to note something else: The Temple Department announced in late January that the Washington D.C. Temple's rededication would be pushed back from June 19 to August 14 and that the open house, set to go through Saturday June 11, would be extended as needed. As of today, no update has indicated that the open house will be extended. So unless there is an official announcement on that tomorrow, that open house will wrap up tomorrow evening. That being said, the latest edition of "This Week on Social" was published:

The following apostles and General Officers were featured this week: Elders Jeffrey R. Holland Quentin L. Cook, D. Todd Christofferson, Ronald A. Rasband, and Gary E. Stevenson, all of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; outgoing Relief Society General President Sister Jean B. Bingham; Sister Michelle D. Craig, First Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency; Sunday School General President Brother Mark L. Pace; and Bradley R. (Brad) Wilcox, Second Counselor in the Young Men General Presidency.

My thanks once again to you all.

    1. Chris, thanks for sharing your thoughts here. I don't necessarily have a personal preference on either, but am grateful that the Church was able to provide the revised rendering, which should enable the groundbreaking for that temple to move ahead as scheduled without a hitch. It's been great to see all the temple groundbreakings that have occurred from March through this month.

I'm hoping the second half of the year sees a similar number of groundbreakings as well. I'm particularly keeping my ears open for any word on groundbreakings for the Willamette Valley Oregon and Montpelier Idaho Temples, most (if not all) of the 5 Latin American temples for which sites have been confirmed and renderings released, and the 3 temples in the Pacific Area which have also had sites confirmed and renderings released.

I'm also cautiously optimistic that we could see official details announced for at least a few of the 11 other US temples currently in the queue. And since the Church has surprised us twice this year already with site confirmations, exterior renderings, and groundbreakings being announced for 2 temples (Freetown Sierra Leone and Bahia Blanca Argentina) in single announcements, hopefully there will be similar announcements in the final half of this year.

So if a minimum of 9 temples (in addition to the 2 with groundbreakings already scheduled) have groundbreakings this year, that would be a total of 22 temple groundbreakings in 2022. I look forward to seeing all of that unfold. Thanks, Chris, as always, for taking time to comment. I always appreciate hearing from you.

  3. Hello again, everyone! Two weeks ago, when the Church News featured a biography for Denelson Silva, I mentioned that the incoming Relief Society and Primary General Presidencies would likely be featured next. Today, the Church News published a feature article on Sister Camille N. Johnson, the outgoing Primary General President and incoming Relief Society General President:

    https://www.thechurchnews.com/leaders-and-ministry/2022-06-11/president-camille-johnson-relief-society-primary-service-trusting-in-the-lord-has-shaped-the-life-256226

Assuming articles about Sister Johnson's respective First and Second Counselors in the Relief Society General Presidency are featured in the next two weeks, with articles about the incoming Primary General Presidency following thereafter, then the final article should be published about a week or two before the two new General Presidencies start their new assignments.

One other Church News article speaks for itself:

My thanks once again to you all.

    1. Also, just by way of quick reminder, the Church will have an online broadcast featuring Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles who will talk about "Teaching in the Savior's Way". Due to the time zone differences throughout the world, the broadcast will air live in around 2 hours, and will be available for 2 weeks. Anyone with teaching responsibilities in the Church or in their own homes are invited to tune in:

      https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/event/teaching-in-the-saviors-way-churchwide-broadcast

      Here is the broadcast schedule:

The Church is set to carry that live on the Church website, and it will also be available on the Church's video streaming and social media channels for the next couple of weeks. My thanks once again to you all.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
