Hello again, everyone! A few minutes ago, the First Presidency officially confirmed the site location and preliminary details for the Vitoria Brazil Temple, which was announced during the October 2021 General Conference by Church President Russell M. Nelson. The one-story temple of approximately 10,600 square feet will rise in Vitoria at Avenida Leitão da Silva #2055, Iteraré.
Given this temple's indicated size, I am anticipating that the Church may use a slightly larger variation on the standard 10,000-square-foot modular design for this temple. Of the 13 temples originally announced in October 2021, 7 temples have not yet had any information officially confirmed. And of the 68 total announced temples currently, 39 are lacking the announcement of any official details.
I was slightly surprised that we only got an update on a single temple today, and also that the Newsroom release doesn't say anything about project managers working on approvals for the temple. From that, I'm assuming that the Church is taking a slower approach to getting approvals to ensure they get everything squared away right off the bat, which lessens the amount of time a temple has to sit in a construction pending status following its' groundbreaking.
So if taking more time to begin and progress through the approvals process can accomplish that, I'm personally of the opinion it will be worth it. I was similarly somewhat surprised that today's announcement only pertained to one temple, and that the confirmation of these details came before the announcement of any other temple groundbreakings, dedications, or rededications.
But again, if the Church is taking more time with all of that to ensure that no subsequent delays or adjustments are necessary, I have no problem with that at all. I stated over the weekend that the dedications of the Feather River California, Okinawa Japan, and Bangkok Thailand Temples, along with a rededication for the St. George Temple, could be announced soon, and I stand by that assessment.
In the meantime, I also stand by my assessment that we could soon see groundbreakings announced for the Montpelier and Teton River Idaho and Modesto California Temples. So, with today's announcement having been made, I am certain that the 4 Mondays in March will see most of those announcements officially made. I look forward to covering all of that. I also monitor all other Church news updates and temple construction developments and will be sure to pass those along to you all here as I receive word thereof.
In the meantime, that does it for now. All comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated on any post at any time, as long as the offered feedback is made per the established guidelines. I hope any of you who would like to share anything will take your opportunity to “sound off” in the comments below.

And although the status of both the Salta Argentina and Abidjan Ivory Coast Temples is unchanged, Salta has been moved ahead of Abidjan in the construction queue:

If there are any new temple construction updates, I will pass along news thereof to you all later today. For now, my thanks once again to you all.
Forgot to metion the fact that there was a significant temple construction update I discovered earlier today but haven't noted here yet. This update relates to the Casper Wyoming Temple:
Deletehttps://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/casper-wyoming-temple/
As you can see from this update, construction has really accelerated on that temple. As a result, its' completion estimate has been changed from early-to-mid 2024 to late 2023-early 2024, and it has moved up in the construction queue to now be between the Salta Argentina and Abidjan Ivory Coast Temples, as reflected in this updated document:

On this Thursday, the Church News has shared 2 new reports thus far:

https://www.thechurchnews.com/leaders/2023/3/2/23616656/president-nelson-10-invitations-promises-quotes-christ-temples-covenants
Meanwhile, in the Church's official communications library, a First Presidency letter to be read in Sacrament Meeting this Sunday confirms the official details for the April 2023 General Conference: five 2-hour general sessions for all members of the Church and friends of other faiths, to be held in conjunction with Palm Sunday weekend. Attendance at General Conference will be limited due to ongoing construction at Temple Square.
Some temple updates will follow shortly. My thanks once again to you all.
The Church News has confirmed the information in the letter I mentioned earlier about the April 2023 General Conference:
Deletehttps://www.thechurchnews.com/leaders/2023/3/2/23619437/first-presidency-lds-193rd-annual-general-conference-april-2023
Again, 5 2-hour general sessions for all members and friends of the Church, limited in-person attendance due to constrution on Temple Square which corresponds with lmited parking, and held in conjunction with Palm Sunday weekend. The letter didn't indicate anything particular about what would make each of the 5 sessions "unique", but I assume we'll find out next month.
Meanwhile, an additional 8 temples had new leaders announced, including the first leaders for the Layton Utah and Casper Wyoming Temples:
https://www.thechurchnews.com/callings/2023/3/2/23616882/new-temple-presidents-colombia-samoa-vernal-layton-casper
Here is my updated document showing the latest changes:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZFxVX_M7JfchmzNG_7QAMP00a6jLLvfZjFIy-ka1Ut0/edit?usp=sharing
A couple of notes: With today's 8 biographies, the total number of temples for which new leaders have been called now rises to 39. Also, I'm anticipating that at least 12 more currently-operating temples will have new leaders announced, and that a minimum of 10 new temples aniticipated to be completed by this time next year will have their first presidents announced.
Meanwhile, among the 8 couples whose biographies were shared today, while they have served separately and together in a wide range of Church callings, among the incoming 8 presidents, 2 are current temple presidency counselors; 3 are temple sealers (2 are stake patriarchs and 1 is a primary teacher); 1 is a current stake president and temple ordinance worker; 1 is a current temple sealer; and 1 recently served (with his wife) as MTC missionaries in Mexico.

Hello again, everyone! After a very busy Friday for me personally, I am pleased to be able to bring you the latest updates from the Church News. First up is the next set of 16 biographies for incoming mission leaders:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.thechurchnews.com/callings/2023/3/3/23617118/new-mission-presidents-argentina-romania-ghana-missouri-sweden
With those 16 biographies shared today, the number of incoming new mission leaders who have been featured by the Church News is now down to 30 of the 134 for the year. While each incoming mission president and "mission mother" have served separately and together in a wide range of Church assignments, among the 16 new presidents featured today, 1 (Elder Glenn M. Holmes) currently serves as an area seventy; 3 are currently stake presidents; 2 (along with their wives) formerly served as senior missionaries in the same missions for which they will assue oversight (1 is currently an area executive secretary); 1 is a temple sealer and current stake patriarch; 1 is a temple ordinance worker who formerly served as a stake president; 1 is a former stake president who currently teaches a Sunday School class with his wife; 1 currently serves as a stake presidency counselor; 2 formerly served in stake presidencies (1 of whom serves as a Sunday School teacher); 2 are currently bishops (1 of whom also is an institute instructor, while the other is a temple ordinance worker); 1 is serving as both a bishopric counselor and a member of the stake high council; and 1 is a current Elders' Quorum instructor. More updates to follow. For now, my thanks once again to you all.

On this Monday, we are just over two hours away from the Church announcing the latest temple construction update. While I am unsure what to expect, two or three temple dedications, a couple more groundbreakings, the release of more exterior renderings, or the confirmation of initial details for 1-4 temples seems most likely.
