BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: Judge Rules in Favor of the Church in the Heber Valley Utah Temple Dispute

Hello again, everyone! It is unusual for a breaking temple news update to be provided on a Wednesday, but there is one, so let's dive right into it: the judge has ruled in favor of the Church in the Heber Valley Utah Temple matter. This means that the temple in question will be built as planned, since the Heber City residents were found to have a lack of standing or say when it comes to how religious buildings are constructed, or the associated zoning granted by the county.

This update was originally provided to me in this comment from Noah in the threads of the previous post, so I'd like to take this opportunity to thank him here for making me aware of it. With that ruling coming in late today, the Church can proceed with construction of the temple at their earliest convenience. It will obviously take time for construction equipment to arrive at the site, and for full-scale construction to begin, but hopefully that will only take weeks, whereas resolving this matter in the courts has taken just over 2 years (since the groundbreaking).

So stay tuned here for updates on the Heber Valley Utah  Temple as those updates cross my radar, in addition to the other updates from the Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples sites. I’ll be sure to pass word of those along to you all as soon as I learn about them. In the meantime, that does it for now. All comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated on any post at any time, as long as all such feedback is made per the established guidelines. I hope any of you who would like to share anything will take your opportunity to “sound off” in the comments below.

If you liked what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added posts and comments, please subscribe to receive the applicable updates. Thank you for the privilege of your time. Until my next post, I wish you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

    8. The latest edition of "This Week on Social" has been published, and it featured posts from the following general Church leaders:

President Dallin H. Oaks, First Counselor in the First Presidency; Acting President Jeffrey R. Holland and Elders Dale G. Renlund and Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson; Sisters Tamara W. Runia and Andrea Munoz Spannaus, the respective First and Second Counselors in the Young Women General Presidency (the latter of whom published via Young Women Worldwide); Primary General President Susan H. Porter and her respective First and Second Counselors, Sisters Amy A. Wright and Tracy Y. Browning; and outgoing Young Men General President Steven J. Lund (who will be released one week from today).

I am slightly intigured that we have not yet had any social media posts from the Sunday School General Presidency members' accounts since they were sustained a year ago next Friday. I'm sure there's a reason for it, perhaps because the Gospel Learning and Teaching social media page set up by the previous Sunday School General Presidency is now the go-to place for Sunday School content, or because there has been unforeseen difficulty setting those members up with their accounts. And I know there has also been a delay getting the biographies of all 17 new GA Seventies up on the Church website as well. So I'm sure there's good reasons for these interesting anomalies, and for the fact that we haven't yet heard from the Sunday School General Presidency members in General Conference. It will be interesting to see how all of that is resolved in the days ahead. My thanks once again to you all.

  2. Hello again, everyone! I am pleased to announce that yesterday evening, I put my first video up on my new YouTube channel. so anyone who would like to do so is invited to watch the video and subscribe to the channel for future updates. Given the way my channel will work, at least at first, this blog will be the best way to find new information and content as it is posted, and then the video updates will follow ASAP on the same day I report those updates here. I am pleased to finally have that channel up and going.

Now, turning to today's reports, first up, we have an introduction to new GA Seventy Elder Aaron T. Hall. They are doing the biographies of the new leaders in a very interesting manner. A week or two ago was the introduction to Elder Brian J. Holmes, and the Church News has not yet featured Elder Ozani Farias yet. Ordinaily they go in alphabetical order, so I'm not sure what's happening there.

Anyways, back to the other new reports. Trent Toone reported on his participation in the "Look Unto Christ" walk. The Church in Peru has shorted a national Interfaith prayer event, at which Elder Juan Pablo Villar, the current Second Counselor in the South America Northwest Area and who will take over as the Area President on August 1, represented the Church in speaking at the start and the conclusion of the event, which involved as many religious denominations in Peru as accepted the invitation to attend.

And the text of the message that will be given by Brother Derrick Porter during tomorrow's 5,002nd episode of "Music & the Spoken Word" pays homage to pioneers past and present. With no additional reports from the Newsroom today, any temple construction status updates will be posted here ASAP once I assess them. My thanks once again to you all.

  3. On this Sabbath afternoon, the Church News has shared a few new reports: the story behind the new hymn "I Know That My Savior Loves Me"; the report of 33 new stake presidencies, 3 for new stakes, and 30 reorganizations; an example-in-action demonstration of "Love, Share, Invite"; the latest edition of "In Case You Missed It: Week in Review" recapped the top 10 developments shared in the Church News this week; and our "Come, Follow Me" study will focus solely on D&C 84 this week (a revelation about the priesthood), so the Church News shared what Church leaders have taught about that section.

There are no new updates from the Newsroom thus far, so any additional temple construction updates or Church News reports will be shared here ASAP after I discover them. With the Burley Idaho Temple dedication announced last Monday, I don't know how likely it is that we might get a similar announcement for the Lindon Utah Temple this week. I've heard from a few sources that the Lindon Utah Temple cornerstone says "Erected 2025", giving me hope that Lindon might still be the final temple dedicated this year, but unless those arrangements are announced by the Church within the next 6 weeks or less, I don't know how likely or feasible that is.

But I do expect we will have another major temple construction announcement tomorrow during the 2:00 PM MDT hour, so stay tuned here throughout that hour for anything I might cover. I have determined to prioritize posts here, then use the text of those posts as my script for my YouTube channel. I got my first short video posted there on Friday, and will have the temple news up on that channel as soon as I can make it happen after posting it here tomorrow. My thanks once again to you all.

    1. Interestingly enough, despite yesterday's report that full-scale construction was getting underway on the Budapest Hungary Temple, the status of that temple remains unchanged, which I assume will be the case until full-scale construction actually begins, which will hopefully occur later this week. I have similar hopes for the Heber Valley Utah Temple. My thanks once again to you all.

    2. On this Monday morning, we are about 3 hours away from the next major temple construction announcement. I don't know how feasible it is to expect that the opening arrangements will be announced for the Lindon Utah Temple in the near term, but I would assume that announcement is at least a couple of weeks out, even though I do expect those arrangements to be set to occur before the end of this year, likely in December, since the Church has not yet set a dedication for that month.

That being said, I could see the Church setting one or two additional groundbreakings today, and/or releasing one or two exterior renderings, and/or confirming the location and initial information about one or two additional temple sites.

Stay tuned here during the 2:00 PM MDT hour for my coverage of whatever may be announced. In the interim, the Church News has shared two new reports thus far today.

My thanks once again to you all.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
