Review of Temple Construction Progress During the First Half of 2025

Hello again, everyone! Now that June 30 has become July 1, the first half of 2025 is officially over, which means it's time to provide an overview of temple construction progress during the first half of this year. I will let the following documents speak for themselves, and just add that this one shows where things stood at the beginning of 2025, with this one reflecting where things stood a few days before the April 2025 General Conference, and this one highlighting where temple construction progress stands at the conclusion of the first half of this year.

I hope you all will find these updates enlightening. It is wonderful to have tracked and chronicled that progression thus far, and I look forward to further progress being made during the back half of 2025. Stay tuned here for my coverage of the latest updates from the Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples sites. I’ll be sure to pass word of those along to you all as soon as I learn about them. In the meantime, that does it for now.

All comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated on any post at any time, as long as all such feedback is made per the established guidelines. I hope any of you who would like to share anything will take your opportunity to “sound off” in the comments below. 1. There was no other major temple construction announcement yesterday or today. My thanks to you all who read the post I put up to cover that announcement if it happened. While July marks the typical recess month for General Authorities, with no major news announced during that month, given that we've got four temples that are completed and awaiting the announcement of their opening arrangements, and a number of temples that are close to a groundbreaking, I'm hopeful we might herar at least some major temple construction news at some point this month. My thanks once again to you all.

    1. While no major temple construction announcement was made Tuesday, the Church News did share a few new reports: An anniversary gathering was held to remember the martyrdom of Joseph Smith the Prophet and his brother, Hyrum Smith, the Patriarch and Assistant President of the Church. A "Strengthening Families Conference" was held in Sierra Leone. Ohio youth visited 3 temples in one day for a stake youth conference (Kirtland, Columbus, and the site of the forthcoming Cincinnatti temple). And the latest edition of the Church News podcast featured teachings from Apostles' and General Officers of the Church at the recently concluded Seminar for New Mission Leadership.

Meanwhile, a new update on the Lindon Utah Temple not only indicates that, as the with Burley Idaho, Alabang Philippines, and Harare Zimbabwe Temples, major construction has been completed and finishing touches are being applied, but further indicates that the interior is being furnished. Since that has not been noted ifor the other three temples I mentioned, it does seem feasible that the Church could set a dedication for the Lindon Utah Temple while finishing touches continue for the other three temples. But time will tell on that. Insofar as I have been able to ascertain, that is the only new temple construction update reported since I posted the last such updates. My thanks once again to you all.

    4. Hello, Chris, and, as always, thanks for stopping by to share your thoughts. I am aware of the report you mentioned. KSL shared the same story on-air today, but I can't seem to find it on their website. I think that kind of thing may happen more regularly than we might realize, and particularly during the height of the dry/fire season. This year has been particularly bad in that respect. Hopefully the entire nation will soon see rain in plentiful quantities sufficient to put out such fires, or at least to make it more diifficult for such fires to spread. I take it as a most definitive sign of the times. Thanks again for taking time to comment. Hope all is well with you. Stay safe out there!

  2. As you might have noticed, yesterday, I took another break from sharing the latest updates here. There's a lot to catch up on, so let's get into it. This comment will share the latest temple construction status updates. I will share the latest Newsroom and Church News reports in a subsequent comment later tonight. First, some updates have been noted in terms of the timing for the completion of new temples under construction and the renovation process of some existing temples. This document shows those estimates as of June 29, and this one shows those estimates as of today. I was reminded that the Burley Idaho Temple had furniture delivered in February, so that's two temples that have had furniture delivered. I can see the Church potentially setting dedications for both the Burley Idaho and Lindon Utah Temples on Monday, but I might be wrong on that.

Meanwhile, construction status updates have been noted for the Ephraim Utah, Montpelier Idaho, Freetown Sierra Leone, Tacloban City Philippines, and Manhattan New York Temples. Updates from the Church News and the Newsroom will follow shortly. My thanks once again to you all.

    1. With no new updates from the Newsroom, the Church News shared a few updates yesterday, including another article from Scott Nixon of the Young Men General Advisory Council; another JustServe report, a ten-question quiz on styles for sharing the Gospel; storm aid for Ghana; and cleft-palate treatment in Brazil.

Today's updates include: 17 times general Church leaders spoke on religious freedom and/or liberty; a new video about a messy room meltdown; the convergence of American history and Latter-day Saint history; and the latest edition of "This Week on Social", which featured social media content from the following general leaders:

President Dallin H. Oaks, First Counselor in the First Presidency; Elders Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Quentin L. Cook, Neil L. Andersen, Gary E. Stevenson, and Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman (via Young Women Worldwide); Sister Amy A. Wright, First Counselor in the Primary General Presidency; outgoing Young Men General President Steven J. Lund, and his outgoing First Counselor, Brother Bradley R. (Brad) Wilcox.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
