Yet Another Revision to My List of Announced Temples

Hello again, everyone! Given the unexpected development which I cited a few hours ago pointing to the notion that the groundbreaking for the Brasilia Brazil Temple is more imminent than I thought less than 12 hours ago, I needed to make yet another revision to my list of announced temples. I again weighed what was known about each temple for which I felt comfortable offering a groundbreaking estimate against any unknown factors I couldn't account for. The result of that additional analysis is detailed in the latest version of that list below. As always, any new changes made since my last such update are highlighted in red text. So as not to disturb the flow of that information, I will end here and now as I always do. That does it for this post. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such comments are made in accordance with the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly-added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.
Note on announced temples: As noted previously, this section is split into two sub-categories. The first contains those for which there is sufficient information for me to estimate a rough window for a subsequent groundbreaking, which will, of course, be subject to alteration in the future as more information is available. The second section contains those temples which are ordered based on the information currently available, but for which more information will be needed before they can join the first list. And for that second list, I do not feel comfortable offering any groundbreaking estimate until more information is available. I reordered the list yet again on January 6-7, 2019.

  1. Hello again, everyone! The Church News has featured two more inspiring stories. The first provided a quick look at President Nelson's Global Ministry efforts in his first year as President of the Church. He visited 5 of the 7 continents, logged around 55,000 travel miles, and ministered to Church members all over the world. Sister Nelson accompanied her husband on most of the legs of his travel.

He was also accompanied by the following apostolic companions: his Second Counselor, President Henry B. Eyring; Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and his wife, Patricia; Elder David A. Bednar and his wife, Susan; Elder Neil L. Andersen and his wife Kathy; Elder Ronald A. Rasband and his wife, Melanie; Elder Gary E. Stevenson and his wife, Lesa; Elder Dale G. Renlund and his wife, Ruth.

This means that last year, 7 of the 15 apostles accompanied him on a leg of his Global Ministry Tour. The remaining apostles who have not yet traveled with him are his First Counselor, President Dallin H. Oaks; President M. Russell Ballard, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; and Elders Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Quentin L. Cook, D. Todd Christofferson, Gerrit W. Gong, and Ulisses Soares.

I have no doubt whatsoever that President Nelson will continue his Global Ministry Tour with several additional legs this year, and that some parts of those might coincide with temple dedications or rededications which have already been or will yet be set, and I will report on such developments once I learn of them. In the meantime, a more complete summary of the 2018 stops on his Global Ministry Tour can be found in the following article:

The other article shares the experiences of two converts to the Church living in Romania, and describes how they are being pioneers by remaining in their homeland and seeking opportunities to build up the Church there. You can read more at the following web address:

I will continue to monitor all Church news and temple developments and will pass word of those along to you all as I receive it. Thanks again, everyone.

  2. My son in Gilbert, Arizona recently told me that President and Sister Nelson and President and Sister Oaks will be speaking to members in the greater Phoenix area on Feb 10 at State Farm Stadium, home of the AZ Cardinals.

    1. Thank you, Dianne, for passing that along. I have not seen anything official from the Church as of yet which mentions this, but it would appear that that event will kick off his continuation of the ongoing Global Ministry Tour for 2019. I would also anticipate that, given the high number of temple events anticipated to occur this year, full legs of that tour will also occur at least 2-3 times this year. Thanks again for letting us all know and for taking time to comment.

  3. Hello again, everyone! While any of you can feel free to continue to add comments to the conversation above, or on any other posts, I wanted to pass along two developments which have crossed my radar. At the first devotional for the Winter 2019 Semester at BYU-Provo, President Kevin J. Worthen (who also serves as an area seventy here in Utah) and his wife, Peggy, spoke to BYU students at the weekly devotional, covering the topics of divine identity and spiritual gifts. The Church News summary of those remarks can be found at the address below:

In the meantime, one additional temple update has been brought to my attention, which provides some context into the earlier report that interior and exterior renovations were underway. For a summary of those developments, please visit the following web address:

Finally, I also wanted to note that I am keeping my eyes open for additional Church news stories or reports of other temple developments (particularly any news on the open house and dedication of the Fortaleza Brazil Temple, or the open house and rededications for the Oklahoma City Oklahoma and Memphis Tennessee Temples, in addition to the groundbreaking ceremonies for the Brasilia Brazil, Pocatello idaho, and Saratoga Springs Utah Temples. My thanks again to all of you for your ongoing interest and support.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
