BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: Site Location and Preliminary Details Confirmed for the Bentonville Arkansas Temple

Hello again, everyone! Right after publishing my most recent comment in the threads of the previous post, something prompted me to refresh my browser on the Newsroom website. When I did, I came across a brand new breaking news development. The First Presidency has confirmed the location and preliminary details for the Bentonville Arkansas Temple. It will be built on an 8.8 acre site at 1101 McCollum Road. In addition to retaining the on-site meetinghouse, the site will feature a single-story temple of roughly 25,000 square feet. Project leaders in the coming months will work with city leaders through the approvals process. And it would not shock me at all if a groundbreaking for this temple could take place before the end of this year, which seems more likely than not. The temple, originally announced in October 2019, becomes the fourth of the eight announced during that General Conference, to have preliminary details officially confirmed.

As anticipated, President Nelson is not letting the proverbial moss grow under his feet, and is taking serious action on the backlog queue of announced temples. I continue to monitor all such developments and will be sure to pass word of those along to you all as I become aware of such things.

That does it for now. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such comments are made in accordance with the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  1. Hello again, everyone! The Church News has also covered the announcement of the site location for the Bentonville Arkansas Temple:

    https://www.thechurchnews.com/temples/2020-04-23/bentonville-arkansas-temple-location-announced-182000

The Church News additionally shared the biographies for 2 more new temple presidents who will oversee the Columbia South Carolina and Pocatello Idaho Temples (for which the first president was called):

    https://www.thechurchnews.com/callings/2020-04-23/read-about-these-2-new-temple-presidents-and-matrons-181723

A couple of additional thoughts about the two newest temple presidents: the new president of the Columbia South Carolina Temple is currently a temple sealer, and he and his wife will begin their service in October. For the Pocatello Idaho Temple, the first president thereof currently serves as a counselor in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple presidency, and has previously served as an Area Seventy executive secretary, and a mission president. This also means that the First Presidency apparently anticipates that the Pocatello Idaho Temple could possibly be dedicated before the end of next year.

You can find the updated version of the list of temples for which a new president has been or may be called at the following web address:

This latest announcement brings the total number of temples for which a new president has been called to 39. 3 other temples for which a dedication may occur within the next 18-21 months may also have their first presidents called, with 2 other currently-operating temples that may also have a new president announced this year. And there are 5 other temples currently undergoing renovation for which a new president may be called. My thanks once again to you all.

  2. Hello again, everyone! The Young Women General Presidency has provided some insight into and recommendations for youth camps which may be held later this year after the effects of COVID-19 pass:

And in recent days, additional details have been provided on Churchwide Events which will be held later this year:

  3. On this Friday, I have one additional Church News article to pass along, and one other piece of information as well. I mentioned a while ago that BYU Women's Conference for 2020 had been originally canceled, but that it had then been rescheduled as a one-day, digital-only event. The Church News has provided additional context on how that will work:

    https://www.thechurchnews.com/living-faith/2020-04-24/byu-womens-conference-gather-all-safely-in-christ-online-182032

Above and beyond that, however, the HTML version of the May 2020 Ensign is now available:

    https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/2020/05?lang=eng

Given the different conditions and situation under which the April 2020 General Conference was held, it looks as though this newest General Conference Ensign will be significantly different from any other previous edition. It appears that the PDF version is not yet available, but I anticipate that that will change within the next week or less. I will keep my eyes open for that and will be sure to publish a new post or a comment once that happens. In the meantime, my thanks once again to you all.

  4. The Church News has additionally reported on the death of the wife of another emeritus General Authority Seventy, Sister Connie W. Watts, whose husband, Elder Gordon T. Watts, served as a GA Seventy from 1998-2004. A graveside service for her immediate family will be held on May 2, with a more public memorial service that will be considered once COVID-19 conditions allow that to occur. Read more on this development in the following article:

  5. The Church News also shared an article focusing on the temple data shared during Elder David A. Bednar's Sunday Morning Session talk from the most recent General Conference, particularly comparing and contrasting the progress of temple construction now with 1924, when President Nelson was born; 1984, when he was called as an apostle; 2018, when he was ordained and set apart to serve as President of the Church; and where things stand in terms of temple construction as a result of the most recent developments (including the announcement of 8 new temples during General Conference, and Elder Bednar's comment that 18 new temples will have a groundbreaking ceremony this year). The article is well worth your time and attention:

My thanks once again to you all.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
