In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.
At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.
I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.
And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.
Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
Hello again, everyone! This morning, the Church News shared the biographies for 8 additional new mission leaders who will begin serving worldwide in July:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.thechurchnews.com/callings/2020-04-06/lds-new-mission-leaders-2020-178587
Among the newly-called leaders include 1 former counselor in the Sunday School General Presidency; 2 current stake presidents; 2 former stake presidents; 1 current counselor in a mission presidency; and 2 current counselors in stake presidencies.
And the Newsroom has provided details for the 2020 Easter Initiative:

Above and beyond that, however, in light of the new temples that were announced yesterday and the updates which have been reported on a few other temples, I wanted to share the latest version of my temple construction progress report:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_NjOQjruF_hn11NO04fVSNWAF-r2OuaSLMDTqQXWeXo/edit?usp=sharing
I’d just note that, regarding this report, the date at the top is May 24, 2020. I have done that deliberately so I don’t have to keep adjusting the date at the top. The relevant data that I want to correct about the report as a result is that, with today being April 6, 2020, there are exactly 10.00 years between now and the bicentennial of the Church. Within that period of time, the Church would just need to dedicate 32 more temples, meaning that if 3.2 temples were to be dedicated per year within that time, the Church will easily have 200 operating temples by April 6, 2030.
This is especially true given the fact that a total of 18 temples will have a groundbreaking this year, which would enable all of those temples to be dedicated during 2022-2024, and given the fact that 14 temples are in various phases and anticipated to be completed between now and 2023, that is 32 temples exactly for the total 200 in operation, and that is on track to be the case sometime in 2024, which means there will surely be even more temples operating by that bicentennial anniversary date. Exciting times.
I will stay on top of all Church news and temple updates and will be sure to pass word of those along to you all as I receive it. In the meantime, my thanks once again to you all.
