BREAKING NEWS: First Presidency Creates Canada Area

Hello again, everyone! Effective August 1, 2025, the First Presidency will create a Canada Area of the Church from a division of the North America Central, North America Northeast, and North America West Areas. The new area will be headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, and will have a new area presidency called. The Church will now have 24 geographical areas, with the Canada Area joining the 19 international areas.

Stay tuned here for updates from the Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples sites. I’ll be sure to pass word of those along to you all as soon as I learn about them. In the meantime, that does it for now. All comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated on any post at any time, as long as all such feedback is made per the established guidelines..

I hope any of you who would like to share anything will take your opportunity to “sound off” in the comments below. If you liked what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added posts and comments, please subscribe for the applicable updates.

If you would like to support the work done on this blog, donations in any amount are always welcome and appreciated but never required. Thank you for the privilege of your time. Until my next post, I wish you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

    1. I can conclusively confirm that the Grand Rapids Michigan Temple had its' groundbreaking ceremony today as scheduled, because I was able to watch it as it occurred. My thanks once again to you all.

    2. Elder Patrick Kearon presided at his first temple dedication in Tallahassee this morning. It is the 202nd operating temple of the Church. If the Church has 300 operating temples by the Church's 200th anniversary (on Saturday April 6, 2030), 98 temples will need to be dedicated in the 5.33 years between now and then, an average of 18.39 temples per year. My thanks once again to you all.

    3. The Church News reported on today's temple dedication. Also, we are just a few hours away from the First Presidency's Christmas Devotional. As per my usual tradition, I have made my projections of the speaker lineup (with this year's projected lineup featured at the bottom of the page). Time will tell whether I am correct or not. My thanks once again to you all.

    4. The Newsroom also reported on the dedication. My thanks once again to you all.

    5. One thing I forgot to mention in my post above is that I believe that the new Canada Area will fall under the Tenth Quorum of the Seventy. 2 of the 3 areas that the Canada Area will pull from are in the Tenth Quorum.

In another note, the Newsroom and the Church News have summarized the First Presidency's Christmas Devotional. Looks like the only thing I got right is that Elder Cook would speak My thanks once again to you all

    6. The Church News has provided the text of the prayer offered by Elder Patrick Kearon yesterday to dedicate the Tallahassee Florida Temple. As I read the text of that prayer, it was evident to me that, as the newest apostle dedicating a temple for the first time, he reviewed the text of the prayers offered recently by his fellow apostles. My thanks once again to you all.

    7. In other temple news, 3 days ago, the Church News shared the biographies of three new temple leaders who began serving in November and December of this year and will begin serving in September of next year. I have updated my list of temples for which new leaders have been announced in 2024. That list now includes 1 temple for which new leaders were called in 2023 but they are considered as being in the "class of 2024", and 80 temples for which new leaders have been called this year. My thanks once again to you all.

  2. I don't know if this is something you'd like to correct, but it appears that you mistyped Toronto, Ontario, Canada in part of your post. But this is an amazing development! Thank you for keeping us up to date

    1. I redundantly stated the information about the area headquarters, with the typos in the second reference. I eliminated the duplication and the typos with it. My thanks once again to you.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
