    1. Yesterday's Newsroom report sharing President Nelson's New Year's Day 2025 post, has been updated to now also include a message from President Dallin H. Oaks, President Nelson's First Counselor, suggesting that at least the entire First Presidency, if not all living apostles, may have New Year's messages featured in the same Newsroom release. Stay tuned for more on that as this year progresses. Also, by way of reminder, on January 14, President Nelson will mark his seventh anniversary as Church President. I don't know what Church News or Newsroom content might be published regarding that milestone, but the extent of that coverage will determine whether I acknowledge that milestone in either a comment on a post here or in a brand new post focused on that milestone. My thanks once again to you all.

    5. There was a problem with the links in my comment from yesterday,, so I am reposting that comment here now with everything fixed. Then in a new comment, I will cover the updates from today. Here's what I actually was trying to shared: "On this Friday, the Newsroom and the Church News shared a social media message from President Henry B. Eyring, Second Counselor in the First Presidency. I don't know if each member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will do one throughout the next 12 weeks, but it's possible. Speaking of social media, we turn our attention to "This Week on Social", which, in addition to resharing the 3 New Year's posts from our current First Presidency members, featured posts from the following general leaders:

"Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Sister J. Anette Dennis, First Counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency; Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman and her Second Counselor, Sister Andrea Munoz Spannaus; Primary General President Susan H. Porter; and Young Men General President Steven J. Lund and his First Counselor, Brother Bradley R. (Brad) Wilcox.

"The Church News also shared another article in the "Temple Milestones in 2024" series, with that article focused on the Newsroom and the Church News shared the latest on the Salt Lake Temple renovation.
Finally, the Church News shared <a href="https://www.thechurchnews.com/living-faith/2025/01/03/2025-youth-theme-general-conference-talks-look-to-christ/: >7 quotes</a> from General Conference on the 2025 youth theme. My thanks once again to you all."

    6. And here are the updates from today: A new article about the youth theme was posted by the Church News editor, Jon Ryan Jensen. Another article took a look at service projects which were recently done in the Philippines. The Church News staff also provided insights into their favorite verses from the Doctrine and Covenants. The text of the message for tomorrow's :"Music & the Spoken Word" has been provided. And with the 119th Congress convened, the Church News shared information about the <a href="https://www.thechurchnews.com/members/2025/01/04/latter-day-saints-119th-us-congress/: <9 members</a> of that Congress who are Latter-day Saints. My thanks once again to you all.

    8. On this Sabbath Day, the Church News has posted 15 quotes (one apiece from each member of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles) regarding temple covenants. The Church News posted further details on the Life Preparation lessons coming to Seminary this year. The top ten developments reported last week were recapped in this week's "In Case You Missed It: Week in Review.Read what Church leaders have said about Doctrine and Covenats 1, which will be the study material for this week's "Come Follow Me" lesson. And at a special broadcast for youth, their parents, and their leaders, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles provided counsel about learning from the examples of Joseph Smith and Jesus Christ as they continue to study and learn this year. The Newsroom also covered that broadcast. My thanks once again to you all.

  3. On this Tuesday, the Church News has shared a few new reports: A Church-supported garden in Alberta Canada grows 16,000 pounds of fresh vegetables and fruits per year. The counselors in the Young Men and Young Women General Presidencies were the featured guests on this week's edition of the Church News podcast, where they discussed the life-changing FSY gatherings. And the Church News has also published the schedule for devotionals and forums at the Church's 5 universities.

Additionally, in what I believe are the first temple construction updates of 2025, the Church Temples site has noted updates on the following temples: Bahia Blanca Argentina (which had noted that major construction was nearing completion, but now has a restored status and estimate previously given of early 2025, and is now behind both the Burley Idaho and Syracuse Utah Temples again), Davao Philippines, Torreon Mexico and Cody Wyoming. My thanks once again to you all.

    1. On this Wednesday, the Church News has shared a few more reports. The next leg of the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square's multi-year global ministry tour has been announced as Peru. Read how to get tickets for their concert on Saturday, February 22. Bruce C. Kush, the President of Ensign College, and his wife, Sister Alynda Kusch, urged students in the first devotion of the year to have their own Sacred Grove experience. And the Church News also provided the full schedule for RootsTech 2025. To the best of my knowledge, there are no new updates from the Newsroom or the Church Temples site. If that changes, I will let you know. In the meantime, a new Reddit post suggests that the new mission leaders for 2025 will be announced on Friday, but I don't know if any new missions will be announced. Stay tuned for my coverage on that announcement on that day. My thanks once again to you all.

    2. I stand corrected. There is indeed a new update on the Newsroom. The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square performed today at the inauguration of Utah Governor Spencer Cox for his second and final term as Utah's Governor. Utah Area President Elder Kevin W. Pearson offered the invocation, and the Choir sang "Battle Hymn of the Republic and Homeward Bound. Choir President and former Governor Mike O. Leavitt was present, as were his fellow former governors John Huntsman Jr. and Gary Herbert, and President Dallin H. Oaks, First Counselor in the First Presidency, represented the Church at the inauguration. My thanks once again to you all.

    3. I took an unintentional hiatus on comments yesterday, but I am back today to share whatever I missed. We start with today's updates: 164 mission presidents were called to called to begin their service in 2025. I will make more comments by way of analysis on that development later today or tomorrow as circumstances allow. The latest edition of "This Week on Social" was also published today, featuring posts from the following general Church leaders:

Elders Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Quentin L. Cook, and Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson; Sisters Amy A. Wright and Tracy Y. Browning, the respective First and Second Counselors in the Primary General Presidency; and Brothers Bradley R. (Brad) Wilcox and Michael T. My next posted comment will highlight the updates I missed yesterday. My thanks once again to you all.

    4. I am back with the updates from yesterday. The Newsroom and the Church News both covered a statement by Elder Mark A. Bragg, the North America West Area President, indicating that the Church is mobilizing resources to help victims of the current fires happening in Southern California. The statement also expressed sympathy for those affected, and pledged Church support for recovery efforts. An update on the Church Temples site indicates that the Los Angeles California Temple is currently safe from the fires.

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf and his wife, Sister Harriet R. Uchtdorf, will speak to young adults in devotional addresses on February 2 in the Americas, which will be rebroadcast in other areas around the world on February 9. Primary children are being invited to serve others in 2025. And Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles (who chairs the Temple and Family History Executive Council) and his wife, Sister Kathy W. Andersen, will be the keynote speakers at RootsTech's "Family Discovery Day", which will be held on Saturday, March 8, two days after Elder Andersen leads the discussion with the rest of the Temple and Family History Executive Council on Thursday March 6.

In other updates from the Church News, read how prayer and temple worship helped a Latter-day Saint golfer to make it into the US open, and the Young Men and Young Women General Presidency counselors provided a look at what to expect from FSY in 2025.

These were the updates from yesterday. I will be back with comments about the list of new mission presidents later today or tomorrow. In the meantime, my thanks once again to you all.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
