BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: Six More Exterior Renderings Released For Temples in the United States and Mexico

Hello again, everyone! A few moments ago, the First Presidency released 6 more renderings for temples in the United States and Mexico. The renderings are for the following temples: Cuernavaca Mexico, Toluca Mexico, Cincinnati Ohio, Des Moines Iowa, Missoula Montana and Tacoma Washington. The Newsroom and Church News reports on these renderings do well to explain the history of these temples (when they were announced, and when their sites were announced).

But I did want to note that I was surprised that two of those temples (Missoula and Tacoma) had renderings released after having had their respective site locations confirmed in September and November of this year. And I also wanted to note that I have updated this document, showing the status of each of the 114 announced temples. Looking ahead to next week, in what will be the final major temple construction announcement of 2024, I am personally hoping we get at least 1 dedication and 1 groundbreaking announced, a long with at least 1 more exterior rendering and at least 1 more site announcement.

But whatever we get next week will be fine by me. Stay tuned here for updates from the Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples sites. I’ll be sure to pass word of those along to you all as soon as I learn about them. In the meantime, that does it for now. All comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated on any post at any time, as long as all such feedback is made per the established guidelines.

I hope any of you who would like to share anything will take your opportunity to “sound off” in the comments below. If you liked what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added posts and comments, please subscribe for the applicable updates.

If you would like to support the work done on this blog, donations in any amount are always welcome and appreciated but never required. Thank you for the privilege of your time. Until my next post, I wish you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  1. The Church News podcast has uploaded another episode. And the Church News also shared how the Adriatic North Mission is helping to #LighttheWorld. Another new report shares how members in El Salvador follow Christ's example in serving their fellow man. And with nothing new from the Newsroom, I assume there won't be a lot to report over the next couple of days. My thanks once again to you all.

    2. On this day after Christmas, the Newsroom has shared this summary of the major developments for the Church in 2024. And as the year draws closer to its conclusion, the Church Temples site has updated its' general estimatesfor temples under construction, moving a lot of them ahead of where they were in terms of their completion time-frames. The one exception is the Bengaluru India Temple, which was moved back behind the Freetown Sierra Leone and Lubumbashi Democratic Republic of the Congo Temples, and is now the last temple anticipated to be completed in late 2026. This to me points to the idea that temple dedications will experience an extreme uptick beginning in 2025 and lasting for the foreseeable future. And that is not even accounting for other temples for which construction may begin in the coming year. My thanks once again to you all.

    3. With reference to the Newsroom article I shared above, I failed to mention that the article does not yet look complete. Instead, it looks like more highlights will be added, based on the headlines from this year, including more on the ministry of the apostles, temple construction & completion milestones, etc. The big stories (like more information on Elder Patrick Kearon's first year as an apostle and the acquisition of the Kirtland Temple) are not yet included, and more will likely be added on the ministry of the Church's General Officers and Area Presidencies. My thanks once again to you all.

    7. Sorry. There was a typo in my comment above. The last thing I wrote was "the entire Young Men GenyPeesidency". What I actually meant was "the entire Young Men Geleral Presidency", which, as we know, consists of President Steven J. Lund and his respective First and Second Counselors, Brothers Bradley R (Brad) Wilcox and Michael T. Nelson. My thanks once again to you all.

    3. On this Sunday, the Church News has published a few new reports, including a guide to Church historic sites, the dean of BYU writes about finding Christ in the Doctrine and Covenants, the top 9 developments from the last week were summarized in "In Case You Missed It: Week in Review", and,, as an introduction to the Doctrine and Covenants and Church History study, this week's "Come Follow Me" study will focus on "The Restoration of the Fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ: A Proclamation to the Wold", the latest proclamation issued by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

That proclamation focuses on key chapters of Church history, so it is surely a suitable introduction to this year's curriculum. My thanks once again to you all.

    4. The First Presidency issued a statement on the recent passing of former US President Jimmy Carter, who once famously visited Salt Lake, where, among other things, he spoke at the Tabernacle, visited Welfare Swaure, and met with Church leaders. My thanks once again to you all.

  4. Hello again, everyone! There was an error with my previously posted comment, so I am redoing it here, and expanding out to share other Church News reports from today as well. Those updates did not include any major temple news. First up is the first in a multi-part series exploring temple milestones from this year, with the first one covering temple dedications and rededications, both those that were held in 2024 and those already announced for 2025.

In other news, the Young Men and Young Women General Presidents joined a special Monday edition of the Church News podcast to discuss the 2025 youth theme. And another Church History and Doctrine professor from BYU shares his takeways from our opportunity to study the Doctrine and Covenants this year. My thanks once again to you all.

In the interim, the Church News has reported on the birthday of Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman, a second part to yesterday's report on 2024 temple dedications and rededications (with the second part focusing on renovations and groundbreakings this year), and on how 2024 proved to be a year in which President Nelson "marvel[s} and rejoice[s}". My thanks once again to you all.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
