Hello again, everyone! This morning, the Church announced that Elder Clark G. Gilbert of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the dedication of the Cody Wyoming Temple. on October 25, 2026 This marks Elder Gilbert's first temple dedication assignment. Elder Gilbert, who was called to the apostleship in February of this year, currently serves on the Missionary Executive Council, and it appears that Elder David A. Bednar has served as Elder Gilbert's apostolic mentor.
This is an interesting development. Elder Gérald Caussé, called to the apostleship in November of last year (a few months before Elder Gilbert) has not yet been assigned to dedicate a temple. But since Elder Gilbert received this assignment, hopefully Elder Caussé's first apostolic temple dedication assignment isn't far behind. I have added this information to my document showing current apostolic temple dedication assignments under President Oaks' prophetic tenure.
Interestingly enough, we still have no word as of yet regarding which apostle will dedicate the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple next Sunday (August 16), or who will rededicate the San Diego California Temple the following Sunday. That kind of makes me wonder if President Oaks will be presiding over either or both of those events. I will keep my eyes open for more details on all of that and will share those details ASAP after I learn about them.

In addition, the Church News covered the humanitarian aid sent to Washington in the wake of the wildfires, and the Newsroom and the Church News covered an initiative that is blessing women and children three years after it began. I'm definitely eying one or more of Oaks-Eyring-Christofferson-Uchtdorf to handle the two unscheduled August dedications, and suspect Elder Soares is either an alternative plan for Belo Horizonte or will assist whoever does go.

Hey, Michael! Thanks for taking time to comment. Sorry about my delayed acknowledgement thereof. I know that for rededications, it used to be they were always done by a senior apostle, but that was slightly deviated from when Elder Gong was sent to Hong Kong to rededicate that temple. So it's possible any apostle with connections to the San Diego California area will be sent to rededicate the San Diego California Temple. As far as the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple goes, we have seen several temples in the Philippines dedicated by someone other than President Oaks, and the same has been true for Brazilian temple dedications that have recently not been done by Elder Soares. That being said, the fact that neither event has a presiding apostle announced does make it likely that a senior apostle in general and/or President Oaks in particular may rededicate the San Diego California Temple and/or dedicate the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple. It is unusual that, this close to those events, the presiding authority has not been named, and we have seen recent cases where the Church has waited to name the presiding apostle until just before those events because it has been either President Oaks or President Eyring and the reason for waiting to make that announcement was because the Church wanted to ensure they'd be well enough to fill that assignment. So hopefully within the next week or so, we will hear who will preside at both events. The only caveat with President Oaks is that he is reportedly recovering from relatively recent hip replacement surgery, so that may impact his ability to travel. DeleteAt some point yesterday, construction status updates were provided for the temples in Queretaro Mexico, Riberao Preto Brazil and Londrina Brazil, which inches those 3 temples closer to completion. Then, yesterday evening (Saturday morning in the Philippines), ground was broken for the Naga Philippines Temple. My thanks once again to you all.
