Hello again, everyone! This morning, the First Presidency officially confirmed that President D. Todd Christofferson, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, will preside at this Sunday's rededication of the San Diego California Temple. The dedicatory session is to take place at 11:00 AM PDT (10:00 AM here in Utah), with a rebroadcast at 2:00 PM.
It makes sense that the First Presidency would send out President Christofferson for this temple dedication. He is currently the youngest and healthiest member of the First Presidency, and I believe he has some personal ties to the San Diego area. This information has been added to my document showing current apostolic temple dedications and rededications during President Oaks' prophetic tenure.
I am assuming there was no new temple construction news yesterday due to the temple groundbreaking on Saturday and the two temple dedications on Sunday. I am hopeful it was only a one-week hiatus on such news, but we will have to see. As I have noted, there are two temples (Smithfield Utah and Pago Pago American Samoa) that are only awaiting the announcement of their respective opening arrangements, and there are multiple temples for which, due to semirecent status updates, are likely to have a groundbreaking. So I hope we resume regular weekly temple construction announcements next Monday.

Not that it matters if this is true or not, but my guess is Pres. Oaks preferred to go to Brazil than San Diego between the two, and they held off announcing both so Pres. Christofferson and Pres. Oaks could switch assignments if that worked better for Pres. Oaks in the end.

But the coverage on President Oaks dedicating the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple indicated that he deliberately chose to do that temple dedication as soon as he saw there was a completed temple in Brazil. So that would seem indicative of the idea that his self-assignment was a deliberate choice and not something that would be an "either/or" assignment. And President Christofferson does have personal ties to the San Diego area, which is indicative of another deliberate choice. So your theory is interesting, but appears to be incorrect. DeleteOn this Thursday, the Newsroom has shared that reservations for the Salt Lake Temple Celebration will be available beginning September 1. The news release from yesterday (about Elder Patrick Kearon's BYU-Provo Campus Education Week address has been updated with videos. Meanwhile, Church aid is expanding across Brazil and a new Missouri Historic Site website offers resources and information for visitors. In addition, full-scale construction has now begun for the Teresina Brazil Temple, which has now been added to my document tracking the the updated completion order for temples under construction or undergoing renovation. The Teresina Brazil Temple is positioned between the Fairview Texas and Kumasi Ghana Temples. My thanks once again to you all.

DeleteOn this Saturday, Mary Richards, a reporter for the Church News, has written about standing for truth and "knowing the ending". And I am pleased to be able to confirm that the groundbreaking for the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple took place as scheduled this morning, although I only.caught the tail end of that broadcast. The groundbreaking for the Victoria British Columbia Temple will follow at 2:00 PM MDT today, at which point there will be 64 temples under construction. My thanks once again to you all.

The biographies of 12 more recently called stake presidencies, with 5 for new stakes and 7 stake reorganizations. The latest edition of "In Case You Missed It: Week in Review" recapped the top 10 developments covered by the Church News this week. With this upcoming week's "Come, Follow Me" study focusing on Psalms 49-51, 61-66, 69-72, 77-78, 85-86 (17 Psalms in all), see what Church leaders have said about those passages. Godoy (Assistant Executive Director of the Temple Department, accompanied by his wife, Sister Carol Godoy), and Hugo E. DeleteLate last night, I discovered some new temple updates that I wanted to pass along now, which are status changes for the following temples: Cagayan de Oro Philippines , and West Jordan Utah. Then today, the media tours kicked off the Cody Wyoming Temple open house. Elder Ricardo P. Gimenez of the United States Central Area Presidency and Elders K. Brett Nattress and Jeremiah J. Morgan, Assistant Executive Directors of the Temple Department, led those media tours. I do not believe the media day for this temple, yesterday's rededication of the San Diego California Temple, or Saturday's two temple groundbreakings are the only major temple construction news we will get today, but I could easily be mistaken on that theory.
