BREAKING NEWS: Artist's Rendering Released for the Pocatello Idaho Temple

Hello again, everyone! Breaking news has again been published by the Church. In this release, the Church has shared the official artist's rendering for the Pocatello Idaho Temple. I am no expert in temple matters, but I would imagine that this opens the possibility that the temple in Pocatello is likely to have a groundbreaking within the next 3-9 monoths. It joins the Bangkok Thailand Temple (which had an artist's rendering announced earlier this year).

The First Presidency has noted that construction on that temple is anticipated to begin at some point next year, and will take between 2-3 years. The site for the temple has been confirmed as being east of Satterfield Drive and Butte Street in Pocatello in the area known as Crestview Estates - Division 2.

It is interesting that construction is anticipated to begin next year on that temple. I would anticipate therefore that the Bangkok Thailand Temple will have a groundbreaking before the end of this year, and that the Urdaneta Philippines and Saratoga Springs Temples might also have a groundbreaking by the end of this year.

So within the next 4-7 months, we could see groundbreakings for each of these four temples. Either way, this is awesome news, and I was grateful to pass it along to you all. I continue to monitor any and all temple news, and will do my level best to pass word of those developments, along with any general Church news, along to you all as I receive it.

That does it for this post. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly-added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  1. Exciting news! I wonder if it may become more common to have the artist rendering released several months before a groundbreaking is announced.

  2. Eric, thanks for commenting. As I observed above, one of the first announcements of the new First Presidency was the release of the artist's rendering for the Bangkok Thailand Temple. Although almost 8 months have come and gone between that time and now, there has been no word on a groundbreaking for that temple.

While there have been instances such as for Bangkok and now for Pocatello where it might be a while before a groundbreaking is held, I fully anticipate a late 2018 time-frame for the former, and an early 2019 time-frame for the latter.

I am also anxious to hear any additional word on both the Urdaneta Philippines Temple (where site clearing is reportedly underway) and on the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple (where designs are underway and a site announcement and groundbreaking date might just be a matter of time).

At minimum therefore, within the next 9 months (if not sooner), I would anticipate that all of these temples could potentially have their groundbreaking ceremonies occur. I also know there are other temples on which I am keeping my eyes for news, and I did hear a while ago that this year and next year could be big years for many temple groundbreakings.

Getting to early September of any given year without having a groundbreaking ceremony is a bit unusual, but that doesn't mean that the next 3-4 months could not see that tide turn in a big way. If President Nelson reveals more about his temple-building plans next month in General Conference, there could be a windfall of both new announcements and announcements about the groundbreakings for any of the 19 temples which have currently not gone beyond an announcement.

I also anticipate within that same time-frame, we will hear of at least one more (and possibly 3 additional) temple dedications. With two temples set for dedication later this year, and one already announced for next year, there are 5 other temples anticipated to be dedicated next year.

So reports of temple developments could therefore come in a windfall of announcements next month, by the end of this year, or in the early months of next year. It will be interesting to see. Thanks, Eric, for taking time to comment.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
