BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: Groundbreaking Announced for the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple

Hello again, everyone! Around an hour ago, the Church's official Newsroom announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple will take place on Saturday October 19, and that Elder Craig C. Christensen, the President of the Church's Utah Area, will preside over that ceremony. Based on the artistic rendering for that temple and its' anticipated size, I am estimating that construction may take between 3-4 years to complete. That said, I am hopeful that the Church is setting things in motion so that at least 1 other temple can have a groundbreaking before General Conference occurs one month from today. Time will tell.

In the meantime, you can depend on my reporting on this groundbreaking as such reports are made available, including specifics on the time for it. That does it for now. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such comments are made in accordance with the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  1. I doubt it but would be pleasantly surprised if there were a groundbreaking before this conference. But I don't doubt that future groundbreaking dates will be announced before then.

    1. Hey, Chris! You are certainly entitled to your own opinion. But as I shared here a few days ago, a construction contact has been issued for the Nairobi Kenya Temple, which will reportedly be a smaller one, so a groundbreaking could easily occur in the next month or less, similarly to what happened with the shorter-notice official announcements for the groundbreakings of the Winnipeg Manitoba Temple in 2016 and the groundbreaking for the Belem Brazil Temple last month.

And as I also noted a few days ago here, concept designs for the Brasilia Brazil Temple have been making the rounds on social media. If those images are verified as official, that temple could likewise have a groundbreaking before General Conference as well.

The only reason that the Saratoga Springs Temple groundbreaking has been scheduled to occur more than a month from now is because city crews are needing to take care of curbing and walkways in the neighborhood where the temple and residential housing are being constructed, so the Church had to coordinate with the city on the scheduling for the groundbreaking around that need. If that had not been a factor, it is likely the groundbreaking for this temple could have occurred last month or this month. Just some food for thought, FWIW. Thanks, Chris!

    1. Hey, Bryan. See my reply to Chris above. Based on the info I shared there, and the precedents of the Winnipeg Manitoba and Belem Brazil Temples in recent years, I think groundbreakings for either or both the Nairobi Kenya and Brasilia Brazil Temples could easily occur within the next month. That said, I have been wrong before, so time will tell either way. Thanks.

  3. Hello again, everyone! I have some additional Church news updates to pass along. First, some updates have been provided on the filming of the Book of Mormon video series the Church has been working on over the course of the last several years:

And in another unexpected development for the Church, a new temple president and matron have been announced for the Quetzeltenango Guatemala Temple. I say that is unexpected, because the current president has only been serving since 2017:

I believe I posted about the death of that mission president who was serving in the Philippines elsewhere on this blog. But for now, I continue to monitor all Church news and temple updates and will do my best to bring word of those to you all here as I become aware of such developments/ In the meantime, my thanks again to you all.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
