BREAKING NEWS: General Conference Talk Transcripts Are Now Available

Hello again, everyone! This is a very quick breaking news update. In recent years, the Church has made video/audio versions of each General Conference talk available shortly after each session concludes, and has had the transcripts for the talks available for online viewing on Wednesday or Thursday. This post is being published to advise my readers that the transcripts from last weekend's General Conference are already available. I will be analyzing some data from that, and will be sure to post updated content based on my usual traditions (including a look at the lengths of each talk given by any of our apostles and also an update on the individual and total number of talks given by our apostles).

I will have that analysis ready to post ASAP. In the meantime, I am still working on the process of scoring the accuracy of my General Conference predictions and will also post that once I have it completed. There are also a few other projects I have coming down the pipeline which I will be detailing more fully when I have the opportunity to assess their readiness towards completion. That does it for now. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such comments are made in accordance with the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  1. one of the best parts of the published written versions of the talks is the footnotes, where often interesting little details and sidenotes are found that might not have been included in the spoken version of the talk for whatever reason.

    1. Danny, thanks for that observation. I completely agree with that. There are specific apostles (if memory serves, President Oaks and Elder Holland are two that extensively annotate their talks) who add more contextual information or important additional explanations to their remarks. Aside from the helpful nature of the footnotes, they also verify that the apostles and other leaders have taken time as part of their preparation to compile other information that will be helpful for Church members to know. I appreciate you mentioning that here. Thanks for taking time to comment.

  2. Hello again, everyone! This morning, the Church News published brief biographical information on each of the 8 new General Authority Seventies who were called last weekend:

More complete biographies for those GA Seventies and for the new Primary General Presidency members will be published in the coming week. In addition to that update, both the Newsroom and the Church News have detailed how Presiding Bishop Gerald Causse thanked UNICEF and Church members for the COVID-19 relief efforts that have been rendered during the global pandemic:

I will pass along temple updates (if there are any) later today. For now, my thanks once again to you all.

    3. An update has been provided on the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple:

      https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/saratoga-springs-utah-temple/

Additionally, I had previously mentioned that the final residence on the site of the Antofagasta Chile Temple site had been officially demolished. Based on that update, I had moved that temple out of its' "Full-scale construction pending" status and underneath the San Pedro Sula Honduras Temple, with a tentative general completion estimate of late 2023-early 2024. There have been no further updates on that temple since the residence in question was demolished, and the Church Temples site has not moved that temple up to the same point I had. As a result of that, I have moved the Antofagasta Chile Temple back to that point on my temple construction progress report. But today, a new report shows that site clearing and rough grading are now underway on the Mendoza Argentina Temple:

      https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/mendoza-argentina-temple/

Additionally, a completion estimate of late 2023 has been added to the Mendoza Argentina Temple, which has been moved up on the queue between the Davao Philippines and San Pedro Sula Honduras Temples.

This means that we are down to 4 temples which are still awaiting the commencement of full-scale construction: Antofagasta Chile (which may see that process begin within the next week or two, if all goes well), Coban Guatemala, Bengaluru India, and Harare Zimbabwe. There may be weather conditions, governmental restrictions, or other issues impacting the start of construction on one or more of these temples. All the same, hopefully, by the time the groundbreakings for the Deseret Peak and Syracuse Utah Temples are held, at least a couple of these four temples could see full-scale efforts get underway.

My thanks once again to you all.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
