BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: Location Confirmed and Rendering Released for the Helena Montana Temple

Hello again, everyone! When 20 new temples were announced in General Conference a couple of weeks ago, I had personally theorized that most of those would be smaller temples, for which approvals could move quickly and official information might come down the pike more quickly than their recently-announced counterparts. But even in view of that statement, I couldn't imagine how quickly that would start occurring.

The site location has been confimed and the rendering released for the Helena Montana Temple. The single-story temple will be approximately 10,000 square feet in area, with single central spire. The chosen site is located at 1260 Otter Road in Helena, and the temple will be built on 4.8 acres of land. Project leaders have begun working with city leaders through the approvals process. A groundbreaking date will be set once the appropriate approvals are granted.

Given the quick turnaround for this temple, I'd anticipate a groundbreaking in mid-2021 or mid-to-late 2021 at latest. And if the other 19 temples are similarly-sized, official information could be released for quite a few of those in the future as well. I'd also anticipate work will continue to be done to clear temples that have been in the queue for a while. This is a tremendous development, and I'm grateful to have been able to learn about it and pass it along to you all here.

I continue to monitor all temple developments and Church news updates and will be sure to bring word of those to you all here as I become aware of it.

That does it for now. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such comments are made in accordance with the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

    2. And the completion estimate for the Quito Ecuador Temple has also been updated from mid-2021 to mid-to-late 2021, in another illustration of how COVID-19 has led to slight (but not significant) delays in temple construction:

My thanks once again to you all.

  2. Given the size of the lot (4.5 acres) and the temple (10,000 sq ft), I think it increases the likelihood for a temple in Missoula than I thought since the Helena announcement.

    1. Hello, Chris. Thanks for stopping by to weigh in. In the threads of my previous post, at least a couple of mentions were made of the fact that, although I had the incorrect city listed for most of the US temples, if the newest temples are all indeed on the smaller side to allow for swift approval, construction, and dedication, then it makes sense for me to leave the US cities on my current list exactly as they are.

The swift announcement of the location and rendering leads me to believe that most (if not all) of the 20 temples announced will likely have official information released soon. That in turn means that the Church could potentially have groundbreakings for most of those 20 new temples (and possibly a few others announced prior to the last General Conference) at some point through the remainder of this year. That in turn will mean more temples will be ready to open at the same time, which would likely mean in 2023 and beyond, there could be multiple temple dedications carried out every month.

And if the queue of temples continues to move forward that swiftly, then the announcement of new temples in the double-digits every six months likely will continue for the foreseeable future. With that in mind, I will probably wind up restructuring some parts of my temple construction progress report.

I think that we are just starting to see the Church build upon what's ahead in relation to temple developments that will occur under President Nelson. He has clearly set an ambitious agenda, and it will be wonderful to see it all unfold. Thanks for stopping by to weigh in on this here, Chris. I always appreciate hearing from you.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
