BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: President Nelson Announces 15 New Temples

Hello again, everyone! A short time ago, during his concluding remarks in the Sunday Afternoon Session of General Conference, Church President Russell M. Nelson announced 15 new temples, just as I had predicted. This post has been preset to publish at 4 and will be updated with more particular analysis within the next couple of hours. While those updates are in progress, the ability to comment on this post may be unavailable. With my thanks to you all for your understanding and patience on this, the rest of my complete analysis follows.

A temple was announced for each of the following locations: Reynoso Mexico; Chorillos Peru, Rivera Uruguay, Campo Grande Brazil, Porto Portugal, Uyo Nigeria, San Jose Del Monte Philippines, Noumea New Caledonia, Liverpool Australia, Caldwell Idaho, Flagstaff Arizona, Rapid City South Dakota, Greenville South Carolina, Norfolk Virginia, and Spanish Fork Utah.

Of those 15, I correctly predicted the following 6, down to the exact location: Campo Grande Brazil, Porto Portugal, Uyo Nigeria, Flagstaff Arizona, Rapid City South Dakota, & Spanish Fork Utah.

I had the right general location but the wrong specific city for the following 5 temples: Reynoso Mexico, Chorillos Peru, San Jose Del Monte Philippines, Liverpool Australia, & Caldwell Idaho,

And I wasn't anticipating the following 4 temples at all: Rivera Uruguay, Noumea New Caledonia, Greenville South Carolina, & Norfolk Virginia.

Truly, the Lord's wisdom is superior to mine. I am grateful for each of these newly announced temples. Because of this announcement today, I don't know whether or not to expect any other major temple construction updates tomorrow, or if this will be it for the next week. Stay tuned here for updates from the Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples sites.

I’ll be sure to pass word of those along to you all as soon as I learn about them. I am grateful for the veritable spiritual feast we have enjoyed this weekend, and for the opportunity I have to share such news as this. Stay tuned here for updates from the Church News, Newsroom, and Church of Jesus Christ Temples sites. I’ll be sure to pass word of those along to you all as soon as I learn about them. In the meantime, that does it for now.

  1. I did not make a top ten list, but tried for a top 33 (to make an even 400 total temples) I am happy for all these announcements. Mostly surprised for Liverpool, Australia. Other locations were on both my short term and long term lists ( between next few conferences such as Spanish Fork and Flagstaff or five to ten years such as New Calendonia). Others I had predicted as the regional area and not specific city/location. I anticipated a second Uruguay temple within the next few years but could not identify a region with that country. I hope for Spanish Fork/Springville/Mapelton, and I was way off for my next Idaho and South Carolina predictions. I had Uyo high on my list. It's getting more difficult to make predictions these days as many of my predictions for several countries including, Brazil have been announced the last few years, I'm making it more and more difficult for some predictions.

    1. Hey, Chris! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm grateful for your feedback. There have always been a few surprises the last few times temples have been announced. It is getting harder to predict temples, but for me, that's part of the fun of it. I'm glad you find joy on this subject. Thanks again for taking time to comment.

  2. I relistened to the part of the announcement for the temples. The prophet said we are grateful for the Lord for The acceleration of temple building in recent years. And then he said "Under his direction" "Today we announce plans to construct a temple of each of the following locations." The part that you said "under his direction" stood out to me.

    1. I think there was a good reason for that, Chris! Several people in public forums, such as here and on the Church Growth Blog threads, keep questioning the prudence of the Church announcing more temples every six months when it takes so long to get them to the construction phase, and when the construction queue is, in their view, "very backed up". I think the phrasing you mentioned was a more direct effort on the part of the prophet to shut such criticism down. President Nelson attempted to address that less plainly in October of last year, but it didn't work. So he had to be more direct this time. At least, that's my impression on this. Thanks for drawing attention to that wording. Again, I appreciate hearing from you.

    2. Since it is looking like there will not be any additional new temple construction news to share today, I wanted to turn my attention to reports I typically share here otherwise. this update on new Church leaders, and this additional information specifically focused on the new GA Seventies. Those updates were reported on Saturday. Since talk summaries are available on both the Newsroom and the Church News, we turn to two new updates from the Newsroom today. Meanwhile, the Church News has published https://www.thechurchnews.com/general-conference/2025/04/07/april-2025-general-conference-theme-jesus-christ-atonement-easter-love/" >several additional reports today.

Yesterday, the Church News shared what Church leaders have said about D&C 30-36, the focus of "Come Follow Me" study this week, in addition to this summary of President Nelson's remarks, and this coverage of the new temples announced, and this summary of President Oaks' remarks. The latest edition of "In Case You Missed It: Week in Review" highlighted the top 10 updates reported by the Church News throughout the last week.

    3. Likewise, the text for the message given during yesterday's "Music & the Spoken Word" was provided on Saturday, as it always is, Another report highlighted the teachings from the first 3 sessions of General Conference on Saturday, and this update and this one summarized President Eyring's remarks during the first session of General Conference, and introduced the new leaders called at the beginning of that session. The Tabernacle Choir announced the dates for their Brazilian leg of the multi-year Global Ministry Tour. This update shared and analyzed the statistical report from the first session, while this one introduced the new leaders sustained at the start of General Conference. These GA Seventies will be released on August 1. The online Church almanac and new stake presidencies.

Wow! That was a wild ride! My thanks once again to you all.

    7. Construction status updates have been provided for the Elko Nevada and Cody Wyoming Temples. The former update notes that major construction has been completed and that the finishing touches are being applied. This means there are now 4 temples with major construction completed. I was not necessarily surprised that we didn't get a major temple construction announcement today, since 15 new temples were announced yesterday, but with 4 temples now awaiting the announcement of their opening arrangements, hopefully we either get another dedication announced tomorrow or else next week. We may also get more groundbreaking announcements. I look forward to whatever happens there. My thanks once again to you all.

    8. The Harare Zimbabwe Temple is set to be dedicated on Sunday August 17th 2025 by Elder Anderson

    9. That's inaccurate. The Harare temple has not even been completed yet. And actually, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, Elder Andersen will be dedicating the Farmington New Mexico Temple. Unless he can somehow be in two places a world apart at the same time, that's an erroneous report. Best to check your sources, Anonymous.

    10. Sorry if that came across as rude or abrupt, as that wasn't my intent. The Church did in fact set two dedications today, for the Elko Nevada and Grand Junction Colorado Temples today, which interested parties can learn more about in the next post. Thanks.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
