Altered Estimates for Known Temple-related Events Anticipated During 2018-2020

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.
At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.
I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.
And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.
Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
I anticipate a lot more renovations the next few years. There Seema to be tremendous growth in that area on addition to knew temple announcements. I just hope the backlog catches up again. I am waiting on Urdaneta Philippines and Winepeg Manitoba, they are the two that are behind the most at this time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this additional comment, Chris! It seems that, aside from any older temples that may need to have upgrades of their electrical and mechanical systems, the focused purpose of renovations (at least for those temples originally dedicated between 1998 and the early 2000s), if and when those are renovated, they will be given a similar new exterior look in the same style as the renovation plans currently progressing in Memphis, Oklahoma City, Asuncion Paraguay, and Raleigh North Carolina, and as is also anticipated for Baton Rouge Louisiana. Subsequent reports may correct that impression, but for now, it seems safe to make that assumption.
DeleteWe do have somewhat of a backlog of temples, and you are correct in your statement that Winnipeg and Urdeneta are the two oldest of the lot that have yet to make significant progress, which for Winnipeg involves the commencement of full-scale construction, and for Urdaneta involves a confirmation of the official site location and a groundbreaking announcement. In addition to that, there are 11 others that have been announced between April 2015 and April 2017 that have not made much progress either. For all but the last five, sites have yet to be identified. For those announced last year, 1 has had a site confirmed and inspected, 1 has had a site confirmed and is waiting for an announcement about its official name, 1 other has a probable site identified, and the remaining two have site confirmation pending.
Regarding Winnipeg, I do know that a slight adjustment to the plans for that temple have halted it up to now. While I don't know if this is the case in 2018, progress on that temple was halted last year first by an abnormally bad Canadian winter, and since that time, by the redesign process.
If President Nelson was of a mind and in a position to do so, he could announce additional temples, and/or announce updates to any of those that were announced by President Monson.
Whatever the case may be, I heard through the grapevine that this year and next year are going to be full of groundbreakings for temples. It will be awesome to see all of that unfold, and I will be tracking those developments and bringing them to you and all of my other readers as they occur. Thanks, Chris!
