Top Picks from List of Locations Which May Have a Temple Announced During the October 2019 General Conference

Hello again, everyone! Several days ago, I referenced the fact that I was working on thinning out my list of potential locations which could have a temple announced during the upcoming October General Conference to focus on the most likely picks from that list. Something told me to hold off on doing so, and in the interim, my attention was drawn to the video interview with President Nelson and Elder Cook where President Nelson indicated more temples were coming for remote areas of the world.  And based on my belief that 14-16 new temples will be announced, I offered additional thoughts regarding the general parameters I believed would come into play in the temples that will specifically be announced this go-round.

Working off of those parameters, I have thinned down my list as hoped to what I see as the top contenders for the top geographical areas in which I see a temple being announced. So I am posting again now to share that list of refined locations. I would like to reiterate a couple of things before sharing those refined picks. First of all, the following list will not be supplanting the more thorough list of locations I mentioned earlier. Within the last few General Conferences, even if I have had any of the right locations on my list, some of those locations for which temples were announced were not my top prioritized candidates for the corresponding goegraphical areas in which they were announced. So the more extensive list from July will remain my complete list of potential picks for October.

Additionally, since publishing that July list of locations, Mongolia has been transferred from the Asia Area to the Asia North Area of the Church. So that particular change impacted my assessment on the Asia and Asia North Areas in terms of the most likely candidates to get a temple in October. That said, the list follows below. In order to not disturb the flow thereof, I will end here as I always do: That does it for now. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such comments are made in accordance with the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  1. Hello again, everyone! The following additional Church news stories have been reported, and they speak for themselves. 2. Any of you have predictions on what the "other announcements" might be?

  3. Hey, Chris! On the last day of August, I offered my analysis here on that very question:

    https://stokessoundsoff.blogspot.com/2019/08/some-thoughts-on-president-nelsons.html?m=1

But those were offered by me as someone not privy to discussions at Church headquarters, so it's possible whatever might be coming is on no one's radar right now. Thanks.

  4. Hello again, everyone! The latest edition of "This Week on Social" has been published by the Church News:

That edition features posts from the following Church leaders: Church President Russell M. Nelson; Elders Jeffrey R. Holland, David A. Bednar, and Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Sister Michelle D. Craig, First Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency; and Sister Reyna I. Aburto, Second Counselor in the Relief Society Presidency.

In the meantime, I will be back later tonight to share coverage and analysis on President Nelson's 95th birthday celebration, which will get underway in just over an hour from now. My thanks again to you all.

  5. Hello again, everyone! Reports were finally provided by both the Church News and the Newsroom on President Nelson's 95th birthday celebration:

    https://www.thechurchnews.com/leaders-and-ministry/2019-09-07/president-russell-m-nelson-birthday-celebration-158776

I felt the Spirit very strongly during this celebration. And while there were rightly several nice things said about him personally, due to his legacy and accomplishments as a heart surgeon, husband, father, friend, apostle, and prophet, much of the focus in music and story centered on his love of the Gospel and the Master he serves.

I was particularly touched when an unexpected video showed him performing a piano piece. And I loved the particular tributes from his children and his apostolic colleagues. From their words, the idea of him being around for another decade or two was reiterated strongly. I loved the music, which provided a strong spiritual backdrop for everything else. And I very much enjoyed the fact that one of the Bonner family grandsons, who is Primary-aged, prompted those in attendance to sing "Happy Birthday" to our prophet. All in all, it was a wonderfully inspiring event, and I was grateful to have been able to watch it and share these thoughts about it.

That said, unless there are other major or minor Church news stories or temple updates to share tomorrow, my next planned content will be birthday tributes honoring Elder Quentin L. Cook and President Nelson on Sunday and Monday respectively, when they will be marking their respective 79th and actual 95th birthdays, so stay tuned for those. In the meantime, my thanks once again to you all.

  6. Hello James.

Our Stake President just announced that the Puebla Temple will have their groundbreaking in November, after a meeting with the Area presidency.

The temple will take approx three years to build and will be a fairly large temple (though not as big as MX city).

The MX city temple has had a decline in temple activity from the local populace (though from the surrounding areas there has been steady attendance.

Revising next temple in MX to be Torreón and not Querétaro those circumstances.

The Puebla groundbreaking should be reflected very soon on official Church publications.

    1. Bryan, thank you for sharing this information here. Is there a specific date set for that, or will those specifics be announced later? I will be on the lookout for official confirmation of this information within the next several days. In the meantime, thank you for sharing this development here.

  7. I like the pick of Cobán Guatemala as a potential announcement for Central America. I also like a 2nd temple for Guatemala city as a ´dark horse´ possibility. Patzicia.

    1. Thank you, Patzicia! I will keep that in mind. In fact, I have Villa Nueva and Senahu on my radar in terms of future Guatemala temple prospects. And given past precedent as newly set by President Nelson, perhaps all 3 cities could have a temple announced within the next 2 decades, if not sooner. Thanks again, Patzicia.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
