BREAKING TEMPLE NEWS: Church Identifies Location of the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple; Has Submitted Preliminary Plans to City

Hello again, everyone! Breaking news has been reported again by the Church. Church leaders today confirmed the official location and provided preliminary plans in detail for the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple. The plans include the temple, which will cover an approximate 87,000 square foot area, and an adjacent 21,000 square foot meetinghouse. No groundbreaking date has been announced.

But this was a most welcome development, as it gives some idea as to how soon we could see a groundbreaking. As I mentioned earlier, I anticipate that we may hear something on the Brasilia Brazil Temple next, unless any other temple surprises are announced. I would then anticipate the Richmond Virginia Temple being next, followed by the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple. But time will tell whether or not that proves to be correct.

I will take some time over the next few days as I am able to do so and will revisit the order in which temples are listed both on my temple construction progress report and in terms of specific estimates for known temple events, and will hope to have something published in both cases within the next week or less. I am grateful for this unanticipated but most welcome development.

That does it for this post. Any and all comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated, on any post at any time, as long as such comments are made in accordance with the established guidelines. Thank you for the privilege of your time. If you enjoyed what you read here and would like to stay informed of newly-added content, please feel free to subscribe. Until my next post, I wish each one of you all the best and pray that the Lord will bless you all in everything you do.

  1. Hello again, everyone! I am currently watching the 5:00 PM newscast on KSL. They just ran a story about the Saratoga Springs Temple announcement, The reporter covering that news noted that it could still be a while before construction begins on that temple, and said that he would explain that part of the story in the 6:00 PM newscast. Stay tuned for more on this in an hour or so. Thanks.

  2. With the 6:00 PM newscast winding down now, I wanted to note that some breaking news reported at the top of the hour made it necessary for the reporter who shared the Saratoga Springs temple story at 5:00 to head to the location of the breaking news and report on that instead. As a result, the information about how long it will take for the Church to get construction started on this temple may be deferred until 10:00 PM. Stay tuned. I will pass anything along that I learn ASAP. Thanks.

  3. Hello again, everyone! Just wanted to pass some additional information on to you about the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple. I found out yesterday evening that, due to the fact that that temple will be built as part of a new community that will be established, a groundbreaking on the temple could be delayed to some degree or another until the housing part of that community is more developed. That is one of many factors I am considering as I work on yet another revision to sections of my temple construction progress report, and on updating the estimates I have previously provided for future temple events.

But that delay should not be surprising at all. As some of you may recall, the artist's rendering for the Bangkok Thailand Temple was released in March of last year, while the groundbreaking arrangements were not announced until 8 months later, and it took two more months before the groundbreaking actually took place. How Bangkok's situation might compare to that of the Richmond Virginia or Saratoga Springs Temples may not be so clear for the next little while.

And in relation to the Bangkok Thailand Temple, since it is a larger one than we have seen built in a while, I was directed to information that construction on the temple proper could potentially be delayed until early next year. How exactly that might change when it could be completed is another question, and one to which there may be no easy answer.

And that leads me to the final point I want to make here: I am again revisiting the "Groundbreaking anticipated" and "Announced" sections of my temple construction progress report, and my specific estimates for known temple events, and intend to post those at some point within the next couple of weeks, if not sooner than that, in addition to a few other projects I am working on. Stay tuned for all of that. Thanks, everyone!

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
