BREAKING NEWS: Potential Temple Developments in 2017

Hello, all! Over the weekend, I have done more study about temples and temple-related developments. After hearing similar reports from several different sources, I am posting with a report of some potential game-changing and certainly breaking news: It is entirely possible that we could see as many as four additional temple groundbreakings this year, if not more than that. Having said that, I now offer somewhat of a disclaimer before sharing the details: nothing is set in stone yet, and the timing of every temple-related development is up to the Lord and His Church leaders to decide. Until a formal announcement is made confirming such details, they may be nothing more than my own personal hopes and the hopes of those who reported this information to me.

That being said, the odds are very good of at least one or two more groundbreakings, even if not all four take place by the end of the year. But here are the top contenders:
1. The Harare Zimbabwe Temple (which, as we know, is anticipated to have a groundbreaking in fairly short order after a site is announced, and the new information I have received leads me to conclude that that site announcement could happen anytime within the next two or three months).
2. The Port-au-Prince Haiti Temple (which had a site confirmed in March of this year).
3. The Urdaneta Philippines Temple (where delays are over and all that is standing in the way of a groundbreaking is a site announcement, which could happen at any time).
4. The Lima Peru Los Olivos Temple (of which the LDS Church Temples site reported this weekend that the contractor working on the Arequipa Peru project is also working on the second temple for the Peruvian capital city. An additional note on this temple: that contractor stated in a recent interview that it would take a year to put together the plan for the site and the associated buildings on the projects. While it is unclear whether that was one year from the announcement (which, as we know, was made last April) or one year from today, there is reason enough to believe that this groundbreaking could happen sooner rather than later.

Whether or not any or all of these groundbreakings happen by the end of this year remains to be seen. For now, what we do know was sufficient grounds enough for me to feel confident passing these developments on. In the coming days, I will be keeping an eye out for further developments on all temple news fronts. For the moment, the purpose of this post is to pass along the news of this potential possibility. As the rest of the year goes by, time will tell how accurate (or not) these developments might prove to be. In the meantime, I felt it only fitting and proper to pass this along. Other posts that I am working on as a follow-up to this one will come as time and circumstances allow. And in addition to a temple construction progress update and another update to my estimated timeline for further temple-related events, I also hope to post this week an update about the latest apostolic statistics. Stay tuned for all of those. In the meantime, any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated. Thanks to you all for your ongoing interest and support.

In addition to my life-long love for the subjects which I cover in the posts of this blog, I have long held the belief that we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Differences of opinion are natural, while being disagreeable in expressing those differences is not. And in that sense, I have no desire to close the door on anyone who earnestly desires to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on subjects covered in the posts on this blog.

At the same time, however, I recognize that we live in a time when incivility, discourtesy, unkindness, and even cyber-bullying has regrettably become part of online interactions. With that in mind, while anyone who wishes can comment on anything if they choose to do so, I hereby reserve the right to immediately delete any comments which are critical, unkind, lack civility, or promote prodcuts, services, and values contrary to either the Church, or to the rules of online etiquette.

I'd also like to remind all who comment here that I try to respond personally to each individual comment as I feel is appropriate. Such replies are not meant to end the conversation, but to acknowledge earnest feedback as it is submitted.

And in order to better preserve the spirit and pure intentions for which this blog was established, I also hereby request that anyone not commenting with a regular user name (particularly those whose comments appear under the "Unknown" or "Anonymous" monikers, give the rest of us a name to work with in addressing any replies. If such individuals do not wish to disclose their actual given names, a pseudonym or nickname would suffice.

Any comments made by individuals who opt to not give a name by which they can ber identified may, depending on the substance and tone of such comments, be subject to deletion as well. I would respectfully ask that all of us do all we can to keep the dialogue positive, polite, and without malice or ill-will. May the Lord bless us all in our discussion of these important matters.
