General Auxiliary leaders participate in Scouting Leadership Conference
General auxiliary leaders of the Church recently participated in a Scouting Leadership Conference. For an overview of what transpired at that event, please see this article. Thanks.

More on the Seminar for New Mission Presidents
Here is a bit more information on the Seminar for New Mission Presidents:
As Bishop Waddell spoke to new mission presidents, he related his experience in seeing the resiliency of the Ecuadoran Saints in response to the natural disaster they had experienced. He then went on to describe how a building with a strong foundation led him to reflect on the strong foundation for the soul that is built on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His message therefore was to encourage missionaries and church converts to build on that strong foundation. To read more about what he said, please see this article.
Additionally, ,the general presidents of the Church's female auxiliaries (Relief Society. Young Women and Primary) spoke on managing stress. To read what they said on the subject, please see this article.
The Church News also reported an address by Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who addressed the topic of repentance and its' vital role in missionary work. For an overview of his address, please see this article.
General Authority Seventy Elder Brent H. Nielson, executive director of the Church Missionary Department, focused his remarks on how to adequately and appropriately measure success. He spoke of his two sons, who, though they both served faithfully in difficult areas of the world, nonetheless struggled with feelings of failure. Elder Nielson reported that when his sons were able to look at their missions through the eyes of the Lord's requirements, they were able to see their success. Updated temple progress report
As a lot has gone on on the temple news front lately, I felt it appropriate to post another copy of my temple progress report. Please note that in the list below, the Kinshasa, Fortaleza, and Durban temples have been reordered based on information provided by Rick Satterfield, who maintains the most excellent LDS Church temples site. Current Temple Status: 150 operating, 16 under construction (5 scheduled for dedication), 11 announced (2 groundbreakings anticipated to be announced soon), 4 undergoing renovation (1 scheduled for rededication).

Major temple and scripture news
Hello, all! Just posting today to say I am excited to share some important temple and scriptural news. First the scriptural news. A new triple combination is now available in Fijian. For the details, please see this article. That was good to hear about.
Then, when I went on the LDS Church temples website, I was elated to discover that a general contractor has been selected for the Arequipa Peru temple and that construction of that temple is anticipated to be commenced with a groundbreaking ceremony sometime in October 2016. This is great news!
How blessed we are to live in this era where so much is happening for the Church. Thanks for your readership and friendship.

Additional personal update
Hello, dear readers! I wanted to let you know the latest on us. I had my first night with the CPAP machine last night, and got some good rest. I still had a severe headache and nausea, so we took me to the urgent care clinic since I had to go in to get my testosterone injection anyways. While we were waiting for me to be seen, I got a return call from Dr. Weinstein's assistant. I was able to get an appointment to see her a week from today. I hope we can discuss a change in my medications that would help me to feel better. I then got three injections: one each for the nausea, headaches and testosterone. Needless to say, I'm more than a little sore. But the good news is that as I sit here typing, I am feeling better. Thanks to you all for your interest,, readership, and support.

My response to the tragic shooting in Dalas
The public's seemingly unnatural and (in my mind) unjustified mistrust of the police took a horrific turn yesterday when policemen were the targets of a mass shooting in Dallas. I was absolutely numb as I heard about this tragedy. I think of my dad's two brothers, Lynn and Gary Stokes, who have served in law enforcement. That the Dallas police should be so viciously targeted in an angry response to a matter they had no involvement in is beyond comprehension. My heart goes out to all those affected by this tragedy, and I pray for healing for all affected by this senseless incident. I would urge you all to join me in praying for all involved. Thank you.

New law affecting the progress of the Church in Russia
Hello, all. In doing my usual perusal of the Church websites, I discovered that the Newsroom on lds.org has shared a statement put out by the Church relating to the furthering of the gospel in Russia. Please see this link for the Church's official statement and this link for an explanation of what the law involves. I for one will be praying that this law doesn't go into effect, because it would make the progression of the gospel in Russia just that much more difficult. Thanks for your readership and friendship.
