As that ministry tour winds to a close, although we did not hear anything about the Brethren looking over site locations for the Pago Pago American Samoa or Neiafu Tonga Temple, it is tremendous that the site location for the Auckland New Zealand Temple has been confirmed. And as I mentioned yesterday, I am anticipating that at least 9 temples will have a groundbreaking within the next year or so. But I am hoping that we may hear about many more groundbreakings, especially in view of the unexpected way 8 temples will have had a groundbreaking within the first half of this year,
Having noted that, I also wanted to mote that the Copenhagen Denmark Temple is today marking the 15th anniversary of its' dedication, and that 5 new temple presidents have been called to serve, among which are the first president for the Arequipa Peru Temple, 1 former area seventy, and 1 former counselor in the presidency of the same temple for which he will assume oversight. With the announced calls of these 5 additional temple presidents, the total number of new temple presidents called is 62.
There are also 2 other temples under construction (Winnipeg Manitoban and Abidjan Côte d'Ivoire) for which the first presidents may be called before the end of this year. And in view of the fact that only 1 of the remaining 8 temples which are on my list for this year has not been or will not be affected by a renovation, it may be anyone's guess how many other temples might have a new president announced at some point this year. An updated copy of my list of the temples which have had or may yet have a new president announced follows below.
In order to not disturb the flow of that information, I will end here and now as I always do: That does it for this post.
